repeatedly buying off AH (as long as not hacking speed, but just to save themselves from RSI when buying 10,000 stones or whatever)

you aren't getting banned for buying 10,000 anything at a legitimate speed, i do this dozens of times a week and have for years(AH bots have been getting banned for over 3 years if too aggressive)

it's either bidding too fast or bidding nonstop for too long(AH botting)

extreme would be starting to ban windower users

Can they actually detect you are using windower vs vanilla client?

Zuckemberg knows what you do when you watch porn on laptop.

The question is never if they can but if they do.

Probably ways to tell, but then theyd have to ban their own staff, as we know for a fact SE uses third party clients as well. They arent dense; they know that it increases quality of life severely, and they probably would have implemented a third party client with SE approved mods like ESO and other modern MMOs do if not for FFXI being a console based MMO for most of its life.

They may be able to detect windower, but it's irrelevant one way or another. If they started banning people for windower it would kill the game entirely. It'll never happen. Hacks, bots, cheats, etc sure. But just plain old windower. Nope. They can't. Too many people use it for them to have anything left afterward.

Just to make a point on this, while the producers do have funding secured for the next 3 years, what happens after that is up in the air. The SE head honchos could be getting tired of supporting and putting resources into a 20 year game, combating third-party programs and exploits, and they may be wanting to see what a post-windower apocalypse will look like, without caring if the game would be forced to shutdown afterwards.

Just because they haven't acted on it now, doesn't mean they won't in the future.

If they were really serious the entire server of Asura would be shut down. Cause damn near everyone is cheating botting etc.

But they make too much money on people hopping to Asura to buy stuff and hoping back.

The problem with shutting down Asura, as awesome as that would be, is that most of them would return and cluster on a different server.

There is no way to effectively purge the Asura problem from existence, what they would have to do is region lock the game to Japan, which would require condensing servers, reducing the number of equipment, staff, expenditures, etc. Which would be doable with the rest of the world cut off, especially NA. At that point the game would be on life support, but the JPs could enjoy it for several more years until it's shutdown.

Quarantine it, no in, no out. Easy.

They aren't going to start new on another server.

If you ignore the millions of dollars lost, great idea.

Ugh, yeah, no thank you. Even though my server merged with Remora years ago and I've met many good people who originated there, the first year of merging is always a cluster F. You got those "I think I'm the cream of the crop" people who clash with the new "I think I'm the cream of the crop" from the other server and you get all the obnoxious forum posts, server shouts and other shenanigans.

Never said they did, but keeping the game on home turf would be much easier to maintain on a smaller budget than keeping it worldwide and dealing with worldwide shenanigans.

Don't worry, we'll get FFXI-R to play on our phones though.

God, because we all know how well that went over when Diablo Immortal was announced :/

I read a rumor that it may come to console. On Switch would be cool.

What we really need is more people that don't play FFXI to comment on it.

I'm not sure what SE is looking for and what their end-goal is.

Last banwave about a month or two ago I was using scripted to do something fairly mundane. Fair enough, I stopped using it. At the time I also used Tako for some stuff. J0Wait was the big one that I used with some speed increases. Again, this was last banwave. Fair enough, I had my fun and Lord knows over the years I used the hell out of good ole Tako. No position hacking or any of that, but I did enjoy the speed boosts for the giggles.

Then this morning I got another notifications. Permanent ban. I'm at a loss this time. I stopped using scripted for mundane stuff and stopped using Tako for J0Wait. Again, no position hacks, speed hacks, etc. I do use equipviewer, however. I use windower with a lot of addons and plugins. I also use a lot of custom addons and some of them are listed below.

I'm going to copy part of my init file here too, these are just what are loaded automatically.

Personally, between bans, I stopped using Tako and scripted completely. That still begs the question, what is SE looking for in windower addons that trips their sensors? Is it something that monitors packets? I do use gaze_check, may have used warps, etc. But those auto-load and I didn't actually use them as far as I know.

Diablo Immortal will end up being massively successful. For all everyone's complaints and protests.... they do have phones, and will have to take a ***.

Using sellnpc in zones without a vendor has always been bannable. Grey area if you used it without talking to a vendor first, but possibly detectable.

Asura is the Canto Bight of Star Wars in FFXI

More accurately, it's the Mos Eisley of FFXI.
