November 2021 Version Update
I would guess removing ilv monster from the newbs path toward CoP completion
I think putting iLevel in the CoP path is just restoring the CoP missions to the intended difficulty level.
Unfortunelly restoring intended difficulty wont restore intended playrbase.
Maybe the maintenance is for Valaneriel. This is from reddit
Quote: Valaineral is *** busted. no seriously he's bugged. you can force him to spam uriel blade back to back without TP. V's AI is very simple to abuse - His Ai checks things in this order, and produces effects accordingly Am i Engaged with the target and on its threat list, but not at the top? - > Activate flash or provoke Am i engaged With the target, but on top of its threat list? - > Normal Behavior Am i engaged, With my master on a threat list, that i am not currently on? - > Uriel Blade. you can abuse 3 by just chain pulling mobs into Him. he'll just instantly say '*** my need for tp - i must protect master!' and start going to town. as long as you engage against something other than the target he doesnt have threat on, he will uriel blade without fail. Some japanese players have been saying the ambuscade punishment for the iron giants health being too different has been increased(?) or is just on all the time from 50% or so.
It was making lowman runs basically impossible. Valaneriel bug sounds like a possible cause. Ambuscade being broken does not. SE has never seemed to emergency patch things that hurt the players.
I would not be surprised if the seasonal event was insecure and is actually what they are fixing. this was fixed in the update for mlvls.
Resolved Issues The issue in which the value for Valaineral’s alter ego’s Refresh attribute was incorrect. The issue in which Valaineral's alter ego would continually spam Uriel Blade under certain conditions. The issue in which Coelestrox would return male dancer-specific gear if the female dancer-specific gear was scheduled to be reforged but the reforging process was canceled. The issue with the key items menu wherein the Sheet of Ancient Tunes key item did not display properly. The issue with the orchestrion music selection menu wherein the tunes obtained from the Sheet of Ancient Tunes did not display properly. stuoobey said: » Yes, 2016 was when they shut down PS2 and Xbox 360 servers, although FFXI still requires PS2 devkits to do any major updates, it's still a PS2 game ported to the PC. That's why we have limits on what they can add, I think we'd all love to see a new expansion, not sure if they can squeeze many more new maps out though (It's why we keep seeing old maps reused). With master points being slowly released and updated, they've found a way to keep everyone busy until the 20th anniversary and whatever they have planned. Pretty sure the devs have stated that awhile ago they managed to reverse engineer stuff and thats why we can now get new cutscenes despite there no longer being PS2 dev kits. A big part of their work right now is effectively reverse engineering stuff at a very low level so they do PS2 devkit style changes without having the devkits. I believe they stated that sony wasn't very helpful here either and they have basically been wading through the dark on this one, and hired some specialists who had skill in this area (reverse engineering PS2 compiled code basically speaking) Voracious Resurgence is the product of all that hard work, I presume there's still big chunks of the core engine that they havent reverse engineered yet, but it kind of seems like the Mastery System, new cut scenes, etc etc may be the product of them slowly chipping away and rebuilding their own custom devkit engine that lets them inject new life into the game. soralin said: » stuoobey said: » Yes, 2016 was when they shut down PS2 and Xbox 360 servers, although FFXI still requires PS2 devkits to do any major updates, it's still a PS2 game ported to the PC. The game is back up.

I used Valaineral in Odyssey last night and he was still grabbing new mobs with Uriel Blade like previously. Maybe that's the intended behavior, but the bug was something that locked him into nothing but Uriel spam even after tagging everything, ignoring his spells/JAs as a result? Just a guess. It's bad enough when you encounter Ilvl goblins in dangruf wadi unexpectedly, but throwing truesight aggro Ilvl 140 mobs in that dense of a cluster at the entrance to a mandatory storyline zone is just gonna cause newer players grief. I'd hope they move them out of the way a bit in a future patch. I think it's intended, we had this when we did it. Danger, even unfair danger is a part of the game. You can get around them if you take your time. The following issues have been addressed:
- When summoned by a player with an increased master level, the combat skill cap for pets, wyverns, avatars, or automatons was incorrect. - When summoned by a player with an increased master level, the magic evasion skill cap for pets, wyverns, or avatars was incorrect. - An alter ego, luopan, or fellow summoned by a player with an increased master level would have its combat skill cap increased. - When trading in the fish required for the quest "Inside the Belly" to the NPC "Zaldon" in Selbina, an unnecessary message would be displayed. Yeah I do remember them saying that can do cutscenes on PC now and I know they were working hard to try and update as much as they can, hopefully they have more control over ffxi than I fear, more than happy to be wrong about this.
cop had quite a few maps, bibiki bay, movalpolos, riverne sites, pso'xja was pretty big as I recall (not been for a long time), the ferry between sandy and jugner, to name a few. Having flashbacks of the pso'xja music now :) Odyssey is a grind to get better gear, master levels are a grind to get better stats and abilities, it would be fantastic if the 20th anniversary gave us something big to use these against This has probably already been answered but nothing increases EP gains, rings, rolls, etc right?
cor roll does I think. I had kupofried out at one point but he didn't seem to be doing anything
That's actually good news. I prefer keeping Sylvie and swapping her out for whoever will give me +20% CP got annoying at times.
They can add pretty much anything they want but it's so expensive and requires so many people that it's just not cost effective anymore. Adding new monsters or armor sets used to be pretty cheap, however in 2021 where cash shop mounts and outfits make SO MUCH MONEY their wages have exploded. So it's very expensive now.

This ***is what makes me frustrated. People have grown so accustomed to RMT that legit stuff is now high hanging fruit. I get it, you're a business and businesses are there to make money but god damn, how long before playing games isn't actually about playing games anymore "You mean you have to use your hands? That's like a baby's toy!" This is why I applaud gaming companies that stay away from ***like that. They stick to making high quality games instead. My automatons dream to solo aeonics is shattered
"- When summoned by a player with an increased master level, the combat skill cap for pets, wyverns, avatars, or automatons was incorrect." The scariest thing is that the future of the game I love is more or less being held in the balance by a small number of development PS2 units. :(
The non pet jobs get so much more from mastery and increased sub job level.
Hmm My automaton still has 484/434 +50 skill ? Asura.Bixbite said: » The non pet jobs get so much more from mastery and increased sub job level. Hmm My automaton still has 484/434 +50 skill ? IT does seem to have higher acc / atk but its weaponskill damage has fallen about 404. Maybe it was wrong but not completely wrong? I will start to ML it soon and will see how it will go up I guess Wait it just did a 20k armor shatterer so it didnt fall from last night lol. I do have a second pup i'll test with to see the difference in damage once i've mastered fully.
