It doesn't seem that bad because it's just like comment about race, people will have different perception on sex/penis comment lol. This kind of thing has always been "ok" to some but not ok to another.

Lol that's too bad... You have to know Simonses to understand that there is a cultural/language barrier and as much as he sounds like he is being rude and pissing on everyone he actually believes he is being very neutral.
I understand that vast majority of issues that he had with me are mostly just choice of words, nor I take it that seriously.
I dont think penis and ***should be brought into a video game discussion in public though, video games are pure and innocent ;;

Is this moderation best practices now? I clearly remember someone getting banned from the forums (specifically the monk forum acouple years ago) for a lot less drama.

I agree with some tolerance toward strictly subjetive rules. Otherwise this will become like a junk like Bg forum if anyone that feel subjectively offended just call GM and get the other side banned.
People get mad with about any and everything. Most of offended complains are more subjective than objective. For those subjectives feeling, there is always the “Block” button.
If it gets obsessive like patrolling or some objective offense, go ahead and ban.

Topic banning or even subsection banning are relatively minor things from what I gathered on the infraction scale.

In other words, he's a narcissistic jerk that constantly talk down to people and need to prove he is "right" all the time whom has been warn several time that he come off as a condescending jackass when talking to people yet always blame other for taking what he said the wrong way.
