Carbuncle.Nynja said: » Making the 5th and final box 100% is a more than sufficient bone, as it still incentivizes killing NM's to increase drop rate on the previous 4 boxes. That's fair, and making the 5th one automatic (rather than the 1st) effectively still encourages doing the content. Plus, the entire "maybe units, NMs, matters, etc, will have secondary uses". The accessories are nice but they really are not something absolutely necessary (unlike Malignance was, since we're talking about that recently). I wish I could be so blissfully ignorant.
The grind is totes a trap and the staff will be watching all of our screens and the GMs will be banning them all. So *** silly. I think I'd be pretty happy with a 5 cap on matters per week per zone
But add a chance to get one from the ??? Lili said: » Right, but then any incentive to kill the NMs, basically disappears. Especially now that NM tally is monthly. That's up to them to fix things. Keeping things this way because "then at least they have a purpose" sounds like a weak reason, imho. Furthermore, in a scenario where the first matter is guaranteed some people would still want to open other chests for the currency AND for the matter, so NMs would still be relevant. But still, could make so matter on the FIRST chest is only 100% if all 22 nms in the zone have been killed the previous month. There, fixed it! Spoiler: I'm bloody sure there's more to come on NMs. I can totally feel there's something else at play with them but it's not unlocked because it's tied to parts of limbus they still have to release. NM Tally shouldnt have been monthly, they should have just reduced the amount of NM's that respawn per week.
Original system: Weekly reset, all 22 NM's are set to respawn, max of 4 per day. If your server missed a day killing them, your drop rate is unable to be maxed. New system: Monthly reset, all 22 NM's are set to respawn (is it still 4 per day?). You have a big window to clear them out. However, if they arent cleared out, the drop rate is hindered for the entire month. What it should have been: Weekly reset, four random dead NM's from the pool are set to respawn. If all NM's were dead, those 4 spawn Sunday. If there are NM's up from the previous week, run the original system with a max of 4 NM's per day. So if 2 NM's are up on tally, then those NM's say up and two more spawn, with two more waiting in line when spots open up at JP midnight. This system fits perfectly in line with why they made the change Quote: we feel that if we stick to the current system where the rewards are reset each week, you will end up focusing more on the busywork of fighting the monsters rather than enjoying the content itself, so we have made this adjustment our top priority. And from the data we got from Phoenix, a 22/22 NM kill is something like a 33% drop rate? Before: No one grinding Limbus for matters cause drop rate sucks.
Now: No one grinding Limbus for matters cause drop rate sucks. They're the same picture. After the first week, I'm not grinding it, but it's pretty easy to fit in a couple climbs a week.
It's boring if you're solo, but it replaces other boring activities like recapping merits or getting safety EP quite nicely. I haven't seen an escha lizard or locus mob all month. NM hunts have fallen off now that the novelty is gone, tho. I don't know I'm at rank 12 and rank 8 on my earrings so far, drop rate hasn't seemed that terrible even though plenty of NMs left up and I have missed a few potential runs. Also gained a few master levels and upgraded a few +4 to avoid capping my points.
Archduke's sword is out now at curator's, shield still not available, presumably next month.
The damage boost is as expected and much worse than other options for RDM The duration boost when used while casting I don't think is worth on RDM as it just gets you out of line with temper II but... The duration bonus does work for enlight/enlight II and is very nice. It's also just a generally decent sword especially for those with fewer options. Also please stop gouging red curry lol Dragon Meat is stupidly hard to find in 2025. It only comes from random ***no one does anymore.
VW Abbyssea and wyrm kings (same with hydra meat, and cerb meat, gabbrath meat, but not relevant to red curry) There is absolutely no reason for anyone to go get the sword though. Ilm Tiara (head): Search for pumpkins
Ilm Manillas (hands): Trade the specified items to the Curator Moogle Ilm Lappa (legs): Trade the specified items to the Curator Moogle Ilm Huaraches (feet): Search for pumpkins Archduke sword curator Moogle Anyone know what things I gotta track down this weekend for the Moogle? And anyone got a refresher on the pumpkin search? https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Curator_Moogle
