I always think about buying all 1000 marbles just to sell an account that wins, but it's just not worth it

(well you know, all 950, there's no way 111 222 will be pulled)

Edit: find out what reraise V is.

From BG wiki: Reraise V: This Reraise effect does not give the user Weakened status, revives the user at full HP, and the user does not lose any Experience Points upon revival.

I've always wanted to just go ham on marble purchases and since SE doubled marbles, I did just that. I picked up 164 marbles.

Is there any particular Rank 1 weapon that hasn't been tested yet?

You have 82 characters???

Also, I noticed you have "4" twice, and I don't understand why you wouldn't have 3 digit numbers for each marble.

That'd still be a 3 digit number, just as "004"

But also you'd have them since there's still a 1/10 chance the number is <100

But as far as I can remember, that has never happened. Right?

It's never been 00# it's rarely two of the same number at all. You should (almost) always play ABC never AAB ABB ACC etc

But 032 won

random controlled by a computer is only ever "random"

unless we have a FFXI dev rolling 3 10 sided dice each bonanza

I'd wager a very shiny penny it'll never be 420, 666, or 000.

Yes, if you had the moogle select your numbers, you absolutely couldn't win.

All the numbers were randomly picked. And since SE uses a different roll for Rank 1, 2 and 3. a "004" can win on "004", "04" and "4" for rank 1, 2 and 3 respectively. I supposed I could have gone with, like "604" ....but oh well.

If the numbers are truly randomly generated then there's no difference between 604 and 004.

If the rank 2 prize is 04, both of them win. If rank 3 is 4, both of them win. If rank 1 is 604, it wins; if rank 1 is 004, the other one wins. They're the exact same, unless SE has some bias against single-digit numbers, which I think a lot of people believe but has no basis in reality. I echo the same sentiment about 420, 666, or any of the others like 222, 555, 123, or whatever.

I doubt they have numbers excluded from the winnings just because of perception. I do wonder if they check the winning number to make sure it wasn't like...massively popular...before they accept it, to avoid giving 25 weapons to the same guy, but as far as we know they just randomly select a number and that's the winner.

I'm pretty sure you said what I said but with more words. ;)

Anyway, only reason I have this many $1 characters is because the first 5-6 years of login points campaigns were actually really good. Then SE redid the points/prize structure. :/

Ah, misunderstanding then because I took the "could have gone with 604, oh well" as more of a regret thing. Was also replying at the same time to some of the other comments about numbers that definitely won't get picked. Seems like silly superstition to me

Yea thats probably exactly why they stopped doing it like that, except for that rare last time we had empy items. They probably saw too many whales paying to win, but really they benefit from doing that so it makes you think why would they not do that.

I'll always believe they have a number of rank 1 prize winners in mind first. Then they do a truly random number, and if the total # of people who have that one is within an acceptable range of the target, that's the winning number. If there are too many or too few winners, re-roll.

People being reluctant to keep 00x marbles, or lots of picks for numbers like 420, 666, etc... both of those situations would get the number thrown out because there are too few/too many marbles for the intended amount of winners.

Basically, yeah. That's why it's never drawn live or recorded. It's generated to fit a set of parameters. Imagine if they actually pulled 000 with zero winners. Scandal. Like they take the middle picked amounts (50-200 winners) and "allow" one of them to be "picked".

I think they drew them "live" once though? way back when there was enough entries that getting only <2 winners would've been damn hard.

Not that it's overly difficult to skew live either. Many same-numbered balls and/or numbers omitted.

It wouldn't make sense to select winners when the odds play out the same way. They reduced the total numbers drawn to increase reward rates. Doesn't really fit that they would want to limit winners.

They should just give away first prize to everyone that bought pearls one of these time. The FOMO every time it rolls around afterwards would be devastating.
