And given that the Dems are having such a hard time pulling the trigger on choosing a VP, that doesn’t bode well. If there was an obvious, strong choice for the position then it would be more apparent by now.
I'm all about respectin' the women-folk and whatnot but I kinda feel like he messed up promising he will be choosing a woman. Now he has to find the most qualified woman as opposed to the most qualified person.

This is basically like McCain in 2008, who didn't matter as long as it was a woman because women will vote for women. Then you end up with an Alaskan soccer mom who can see Russia from her front porch.

Also, you aren't going to sway Republican women to vote for you because your running mate is a woman, it seems that many Republican women don't care about gender and the more extreme ones still claim that they are the weaker sex and that a man should be doing the job.

So basically, instead of just looking for the most qualified person to do the job with views that could close the gap and better the country, you play identity politics and appeal to the votes you're already going to get anyway.

I like Biden, I like Warren, and I don't have anything bad to say about Harris or Rice but ffs don't limit yourself on candidates because of gender.

Also, if Biden picks Rice and wins, I'll look forward to a Benghazi shitshow.

Said it before, I'll say it again, only way Biden ensures his loss is picking a woman. Especially a minority.

The only reason McCain lost was picking Palin. They picked a black man over the possibility of a woman taking over.

This isn't me "being anything" this is just facts. Know your audience. The "people" who want "this to happen" are the ones that don't bother to vote, so why even pretend to pander to them. Just pick a white guy and it's a wrap.

I don't really care either way who's a man or a woman, I only care about who can do better and who is better for the job. Atm I have to choose between Trump trying to get rid of social security or Biden trying to ban "assault weapons" so this one's going to be kinda ***either way.

The Palin pick sealed McCains fate, but he was already a huge underdog before that just because Bush was wildly unpopular. Biden doesn't have that disadvantage at all, he is the clear frontrunner. On top of that, he has said he is going to pick someone that is qualified and capable of being President. Palin did not check those boxes.

300k people. I thought of her as a mayor of a city with a huge city limit but more caribou than people.

Team Biden has gone to great lengths to establish that his VP pick will be nothing like the Sarah Palin selection.

I am freaking sorry. Doesn't anyone remember 2000 - 2008? The reason that McCain lost was Bush II. The people would have voted for a chimpanzee as long as it wasn't a republican.

Palin singlehandedly changed a rout into a loss. She fed the crowd the red meat that McCain wouldn't. McCain wouldn't even campaign on weekends. Someone, on camera, begged McCain to tell him Obama was a socialist. McCain said he was a good and honorable man. This is NOT how to fire up the GOP base.

Palin fired the base up.

Palin was the final piece of the puzzle as the Republican party shifted from a party purely focused on taxes and the military in the 60s and 70s, to the Reagan Conservatives as he brought social issues into the forefront for the party, and then the "Compassionate Conservatism" of Bush43, with an increased focus on "America First".

Palin was the piece with nothing to lose by saying what they all felt...and her push of the base (feeding it the red meat as Chanti said) would simmer for 8 years of Obama, and then exploded with Trump.

I think you messed up the quote there, but I said Bush was a huge detriment to the McCain campaign. Also, McCain-Palin lost the popular vote by 10 million votes. Obama also flipped Missouri and Indiana, while carrying Ohio, Iowa, North Carolina, and Florida. So it was a rout by every metric. Palin did nothing.

edit: McCain was actually the Republican Party trying to get back to a less volatile party closer to the middle, that's why he failed.

Oh hey, more baseless conspiracy theories about Biden's health. Its a common theme. Lets not forget that Biden was everywhere before covid, and he participated in all 12 Democrat debates, the last one being in March of this year.

Ah, yes. The old Democrat election strategy of "pretend the problem that everyone knows about doesn't actually exist". It worked so well for Clinton that we have to bring it back for another go!

/yawn. Hooking on to the baseless conspiracy theory doesn't help it. You know Trump checks off way more signs of early onset than Biden right? By a huge margin. That probably explains why this fake narrative is being pursued so heavily, its just cover for Trump's own health problems. Its not like Biden's gaffes are a sudden development.
You know, you claim that we are all peddling baseless conspiracy theories, but then you go around and peddle one yourself.

There's a name for people like you. Want to take a swing at it?

Wrong.

People picked Obama because he was more charismatic than McCain. Also the notion that "if you elect me, you are no longer racists, but if you vote for the old white guy, you are super racists!" plus his promises of "hope and change" that ended up screwing the world was what got him elected.

To be fair, anyone who had a D next to their name would have won that election.

Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Castro, Mao, Khan, it didn't matter.

Bush was widely unpopular, the recession just hit, and McCain did not give the people confidence that he would survive 8 years.

No. Remember, signature matching destroys Saevel's baseless conspiracy of mail in voting fraud. They have yet to be able to come up with any kind of answer to it.

It's legal to put an "X" as your signature as long as you're consistent about it. Nothing ableist about signatures.

Did you see the DNI come out and say Russia is currently working to sabotage Biden in hopes of getting Trump reelected? How much do you think Trump HATES that fact? How long until he denies it, or tries to lie about his non-existent tough stance on Russia?

And besides, Russia's meddling was not the point of the investigations. The point was to take down Trump.

Gotta say, Vic. This is one of the dumbest statements you've made in a while. I read the actual statement. It mentions China first, then Russia, then Iran. Where you got this "threw that in the end to appease people like you" notion is beyond me. Heck, I even read the follow up statement they made just to see if that was what you were talking about, and that one doesn't fit your narrative either.

Is this where we're at, though? Everything that supports your beliefs is true, and everything else is just made up even when it comes from official sources?
