Cuomo is on the record in saying he is preparing for an Apex in coronavirus cases that is headed his way. Its not an if, but when. There is no "might happen" situation that you are parroting. Cuomo has also emphatically stated that he will need 30k ventilators for the Apex because that is what the data tells him. Again, not an opinion, a fact based on data.
He has also emphatically stated that he does not "need them now," (as you wrongfully claim) he needs them for the Apex. You and Trump are throwing wild opinions out there, Cuomo remains in the realm of facts.

I think what Kireek is saying is that NYC is not the only place that is short on supplies for their expected apex. At there are a limited number of ventilators, NYC having their stockpiles filled before they even need them would potential deny other locations ventilators. There’s a natural consequence of rationing on short supply and doing it fairly. Everyone gets something, but nobody gets enough. NYC has to figure out how to deal just like everyone else.
There are 5x more people in NYC they need no less than 5x more ventilators than anyone else.

Except they don't have their stockpiles filled. They are well short of their goal. There is a ventilator shortage in this country, but there is time to do something about it before we reach our Apex, which, based on the last two days (30,000 new cases and counting), is looking to be catastrophic.
Instead of getting into Twitter spats with companies, Trump needs to get off his *** and actually buse the DPA to deal with the shortage.

If Trump actually gets off Twitter and does his job, more than enough ventalitors can be produced by American companies. It's a complete mystery why he has repeatedly spoken of using the DPA but has yet to actually use it.

And as I said, the federal government could and should have been better prepared. Apparently H1N1 wasn’t a big enough wake up call to stockpile what we needed at the federal level. However, the states and cities were caught with their pants down too. Ignorance is bliss until a crisis hits.

It was the proper thing to do, once China is back under control we are hoping they'll be able to ramp up production and help other countries. Things are starting to get ugly over here and people are panicking which explain the backlash against Trudeau. Maybe China won't help us ... We can't say for sure.
As for Trump, he would never do this, but if he somehow found that kind of empathy in him, he would have been utterly destroyed by medias across the whole political spectrum. I'm sure even evangelicals would turn on him for that.
