What's a state election? Is it like voting for a local MP in the UK?

There is a House and a Senate in each of the 50 states, and I believe the one Rava was referring to was Kentucky. From the article:

Quote:
Republicans have gained a seat in the state House of Representatives following a special election in a historically Democratic district in northeastern Kentucky.

Republican lumber mill owner Richard White defeated Democrat Bill Redwine, a former administrator at Morehead State University, by a little more than 1,000 votes on Tuesday.

The outcome does not change party control in the legislature, where Republicans how hold 62 out of 100 seats in the House and 29 out of 38 seats in the Senate, both super-majorities.

Not at all.

Each state has a governor, other executive officers, its own judicial system, and a legislature. (No Oz, not every state has two legislative bodies, Nebraska has a unicameral legislature.)

Almost all of these positions are filled by state elections. In some states judges are elected.

Technically we are not a representative democracy but a federalized republic.

Really though. How is Trump responsible for this ***. Shouldn't you be blaming the Chinese.
Don't you know it's a bioweapon designed in America with the code name thedonald??

Yes, and Trump has had it engineered to target anyone leaning politically to the left. He's got a big challenge coming up in November, and he's got to go at it from a lot of different angles. He'll need to do a lot more this time than just enlist the assistance of Russia.

At least I know that if I start developing symptoms of this flu, I just need to step outside and stand in the sun to warm up and the symptoms will go away...at leas that is what I am gathering from the recent posts in this thread.

Yep my vote was 100% sponsored by Russia. They sent me a cheap bottle of vodka. I said I'll vote for Trump just keep fueling my alcoholism !

Well that concludes my deep understanding of American history.

The French aren't too bad.

Just watch out for clumsy French waiters.

Is that 100% reporting? I knew Biden would run away with it but Bernie has to be happy with a 2nd place finish.

Biden's firewall held up, emphatically. But the frontrunner is still Bernie. I would say its Sanders then Biden and Buttigieg. Warren and Klobuchar are done. Klobuchar ran a great campaign, just couldn't take the moderate slot from Buttigieg. She would be a great running mate for him, the perfect running mate tbh, but there is a lot of animosity between those two.
