Season 8 episode 5, be specific because overall it's been positive. Fans don't like the direction because it's not ending the way they thought it would. Content wise the show isn't doing anything wrong, it's just not handing the fans a nice happy ending.

The producers Dan and Dave (D&D / Dumb and Dumber) have proven they cannot land this plane without the source material. This is just as bad as "Lost" if not worse.

Like I said it's just not ending the way people wanted it to end so they are pissed. There won't be a season 9 so this is it, this is how the show will end and there is nothing the fans can say or do that will change the post-Winterfell story arc where

If there had been a bit more runway people would have been more ready for it. Dumb and dumber are just kind of colliding all these plots together with very little regard for the rich detail Martin fleshed out in his books.

It's like watching an understudy blow their solo act because they don't understand the character.

Well, GoT suffers from "fans who get way too emotionally invested in the characters syndrome". That's not always a problem necessarily, but in a show where betrayal, murder, and senseless destruction are the standard operating procedure, it's pretty naïve to think that any one character would be above that, especially one who has a claim to the throne, a family history of insanity, and friggin' fire-breathing dragons at her command.

As Nausi points out, there are others who knew it was coming but just expected it to have been written better than it was. It's a common problem in many shows that know they're ending but still have a crapload of loose ends to tie up. I don't even watch the show, but even the bits and pieces I had picked up over the years led me to believe that there was no way they were going to be able to end it in a manner that was pleasing to the majority of hardcore fans.

But hey, who knows. There's still one episode left.

I wanted the ice king to kill everyone on the entire continent then the last scene would've been snow falling with the army of the dead in king's landing, 3 undead dragons circling, it would have been super dark and awesome and would've super depressed a ***load of nerds, and it would have been glorious.
