I don't think anyone has obtained a piece of gear that already has a stat +6 or higher augmented with the same stat. So your Domoru probably would never get STR+.

how much gear is out there that is augmentable and has a stat +6 or higher?
and i havent seen people augmenting alot of domaru's
my best guess is that its possible
