Sigh... so the rich get richer, the casual get even more left behind, until SE decided it's time to open the gate and introduce purchasable KI that weakens the boss so you can do it with 12 people or less, similar to how they did it with Voidwatch? Hopefully? Right now you have to be really focus on gearing yourself and 200% dedication to playing this game or you won't be able to enjoy the new contents. Or just wait till further updates would ease up the difficulty and make it more feasible for everyone to participate, usually this will happen in 12-18 months after that said content is launched. By that time FFXI will be a ghost town. I'd say it probably is on most servers, factoring in what people count as a "ghost town" of course Enuyasha said: » Why not just be happy that they are giving SMN an alternator like tathlum that cant be thrown >_>' it's going to be that powerful? Lots of room for improvement on smn really so nothing wrong with throwing those sorts of ideas out there What I'm wondering is if they even know that FFXI has declined dramatically since SoA's release, I know they see the numbers, I know they see the complaints to SOME extent, but do they make the connection or do they sit, staring at charts and graphs, saying "FFXI is failing? That's strange, people are complaining, too. I wonder what it all means?" It seems like they aren't making the connection and just keep going forward, or perhaps their view is more along the lines of "We're changing this game to what WE want it to be, play it or get the *** out!" which is a REALLY bad business strategy, but I wouldn't put either past them.
Either way, the way they are doing things is internationally disapproved of, SE is severing ties with Click & Buy, and the tinfoil hats are on the heads of thousands, just like back when Abyssea came out, many disapproved of Abyssea, but it was actually playable and to some enjoyable, but many people seem to hate SoA, from noobs who can't get into Delve because of their gear to the elites who have grown tired of Delve. I don't see FFXI lasting very long past the completion of SoA, If they are going to kill it, I wish they'd just kill it, I hate long goodbyes. Raw Salmon, not cooked Salmon =P

Just look at how long they've spent fixing Linkshell Community if you want to know how they feel about their game and the players.
You really don't need to look into it anymore than that. Idgaf... Great game! That is all.
Edit: except for the ls community site stuff that is annoying. I like SoA though its just something new is all. Same game different presentation. Quetzacoatl said: » Raw Salmon, not cooked Salmon =P
Salmon is just a fancy pink. I am vindicated. So glad I didn't shoot you Kali, thanks!

"Create content that requires strategy beyond zerg rushing everything." Nada. Consider the fact that Field NMs used to rage rather than depop, if you didn't zerg fast enough, find another strategy because it's a challenge now, sort of, but they changed it to a 25 min time limit with no rage timer, thus you zerg. Why was it changed? Because people were taking too long, people were getting impatient, which is funny considering those same people asked for 24-48 hour respawn HNMs. Imagine them missing claim and having to wait a day or two to fight the mob. ![]() Throwing weapon for smn? Can't wait! So... the new UI.. did they mean summer 2014 when they said summer?
Why would people ever want 24-48 hr HNM respawn back? I never understood this. Is it just to artificially create more drama among the servers cause that is the only reason I can think of really. How do people justify HNM camping as being any more enjoyable than even plasm farming? Both are boring as **** but at least the latter actually has you doing something as opposed to being afk watching netflix or something like on the former.
I predict rage quiting in the near future.
At this point the damage is already done. They probably already reached their set goal in selling the expansion, a lot of us are "suckered" into buying it. Even if 50% of those who bought the expansion decided to quit, it does not matter, our $30-40 bucks already paid for the game to last a minimum a year. FFXI is pure profit for SE, very minimal cost to maintain. The game will keep on going even with 4-5 servers and catering to the hardcore players only.
SoA is a brilliant strategy, in one stroke they reached their sales goal, purge all the casuals and funnel them to FF14, and focus on their 10% hardcore loyalist who will keep the game and server going for years. Hence you see that Matsui does not even bother adjusting anything else other than SoA contents. He seems to be under very limited resource and have to proceed according to plans and cannot do anything but working on SoA content only. At this point, FFXI is cash cow, they don't need to do much, and they don't have to get new players. They will be happy to just keep existing hardcore loyalist and catering to just those people. Those profits are enough to keep the servers going, maintain skeleton crew that only work on planned content and nothing else, and do the basic minimum of content update and maintenance. We can argue all we want, as long as the loyalist stick with this game, it won't die :) On another note, anyone getting Project X? Man, a lot of you just need to quit and go play Animal Crossing or something sheesh.
Adoulin was a bit of a system shock but getting myself and my friends ready for Delve bosses has been a blast. Maybe you should like, I don't know, try participating in content instead of bashing stuff you don't do. Phoenix.Brixy said: » ![]() Throwing weapon for smn? Can't wait!
