Final Fantasy XV
There is hardly anything disappointing about it. 13 problems come from a mixture of gameplay and very debatable characters. The lore itself is pretty solid and the concept of l'cie is actually interesting in both 13 and T0.

If it's terrible then it's justified but no one's even tried it yet. But you're missing the point. If we thought XIII was utter crap in every way, how can re-using ANY elements be something we could get behind? Edit: Don't get me wrong; it will probably be purchased in our home and given a go. But I'm on board w/ the person who said previously that if XV is horrible, it's going to take a lot for me to ever trust SE again with their main franchise...or pretty much with anything that isn't a port/continuation of a prior title that was actually good. It's the mythos, just the same as summons and other FF elements have been reused forever. It's not like they're reusing characters and the way they use the mythos will be different from XIII. A l'Cie in XV seems to be very different from the XIII one, it just shares the same name.
The problem in the XIII series was not being able to explore in the first game, pretty shitty characters and meh combat. The mythos wasn't the problem since it was pretty well thought out.
How to put this...
If you keep a set of games or stories within the Cthulhu Mythos, I'll be interested. Because that's a theme I like. If you keep a set of games or stories within the mythos of Harry Potter or Twilight or something -- where the rules of magic or supernatural are the only tying element -- I'm still not going to like it, even if that's the only connection, because I think those mythoses are dumb entirely on their own; therefore, anything based upon them is starting with both feet firmly in the grave. There is blind love, and then there is blind hate ^
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the FNC legends. Valefor.Sehachan said: » There is blind love, and then there is blind hate ^ There is absolutely nothing wrong with the FNC legends. How is it blind hate? -.-; That's like saying "there's absolutely nothing wrong with mushrooms". Unless someone doesn't like mushrooms. Simply putting the mushrooms in an entirely different food of a different type doesn't change the fact it's full of mushrooms that the person isn't going to like. The music, characters, no exploration and overuse of cutscenes was what killed XIII, not the deity stuff.

Except that mushrooms don't always have the same taste depending on how you cook them. You're monodimensional. Just cause a single aspect of 13 is repeated in another chapters of the series it does not mean in any way that they are going to be anything alike.
I didn't like the 13 series. I love Type 0. Mind blowing I know. Except that mushrooms don't always have the same taste depending on how you cook them. *headache* Should't have used an example based on me. I despise mushrooms. I've tried them numerous times in numerous situations. They're gross. QED. You're criticizing something you have no idea what it's going to be like, simply because it has the same legend of creation as a previous game. I'll say more actually, the story of Bhunivelze&co. is actually more elaborated than what we know of the Creator in 4 or the trinity in 6, both very appreciated games.
A core element of the series has been forever ripped away, doesn't matter what the story line is going to be.
Final Fantasy died after 12, just rename the series after that. Oh whatever.
You like the mythos. I don't. I don't like where they've already gone with this mythos/branch of the series and the trailer is not giving me any indication it's going to be any better. Nothing like being badgered for having an opinion. Bismarck.Ramyrez said: » Nothing like being badgered for having an opinion. Few sentences about the story on wiki, a sentence or two about each of the characters and 1 line about l'Cie in XV.
Obviously you know everything about the game already and can judge it fairly Leviathan.Chaosx said: » A core element of the series has been forever ripped away, doesn't matter what the story line is going to be. They cast aside all the old stuff that so many of us fell in love with to appeal to a younger audience. I guess I can't truly fault them for it, but I just don't like the current Mythos/setting/style and would appreciate a return to a more fantasy-inspired setting; or at least the steampunk-type setting of VI (even though I didn't really care for VI that much). But apparently that's not okay! Bismarck.Ramyrez said: » Nothing like being badgered for having an opinion. The unjustified salt is real as ***. EDIT: By unjustified, I mean by the level of hate this game gets, you'd think a team from SE kicked in your door and murdered your family in front of you while cosplaying the XIII characters. After seeing a trailer that didn't impress you, and knowing there were common themes? I already even said I'll probably give it a chance anyhow, FFS. So clearly I'm not "writing it off entirely". All I'm saying is that I'm extremely dubious given the utter crap they gave us with XIII. I'd have preferred if they had moved in a different direction. Bismarck.Ramyrez said: » Oh whatever. A trailer doesn't do a movie justice and I hold off judging it until I've seen the whole movie because it might just be that the trailer didn't include some of the good parts that don't fit into a trailer. Just saying, making pretty as hell games has sorta been SE's thing since forever ago.
