charm: Tames a monster to fight by your side.
virelai: Charms an enemy. difference eludes me
also as someone who soloed both jobs 1-75 i am very damn familiar with both the ja and the spell and what they do when they land is exactly the same
Charm: Allows you to command the monster, let it pick its target, let it do TP moves, can have it leave without turning its attention to you, etc etc etc
Virelai: follows you around for 30 seconds assisting you, there are ZERO pet commands
If you dont see how thats different in every way, then fkn wow.

bst charm and virelai are clearly the same because they both let you charm mobs, the fact bst's have almost full control over them and virelai gives you a mindless zombie who follows you around for 30 seconds is completely irrelevant.

Virelai effect lasts 30 seconds (40 with Cythara Anglica +1)

gonna go ahead and chalk this one up to "thieves are unhappy about something that doesn't affect them, quick nerf bst they always take a good fall" SE has stated that THF has reached their offensive cap due to TH. TH which at a level past 3 has demonstrated powerful diminishing results. TH3 being an effect that a BST with Yuly or Falcorr can completely mimic. So yeah, if SE is going to tell THF that "youre not getting fk all until we shut these servers down because of TH". Yeah, but did they Promise that THF has reached their offensive cap?
I remember being pissed when I first started the game as BLM. I had finally reached the level to use warp and then found out everyone could just pull out a fricken instant scroll of warp and do the exact same thing I was doing.
Then I realized it didn't really matter and I was a lot happier. One day you'll get there too.

Playerbase question: Add Subtle Blow to thief.
Dev reply: Due to the fact that normal attacks now increase the effects of Treasure Hunter, we chose to forgo the addition of Subtle Blow as a trade off.
They refuse to consider giving a native subtle blow trait because of fkn treasure hunter...its not even an offensive trait.
meanwhile dnc gets all kind of goodies: evasion bonus, accuracy bonus, higher DW (though it was nice for SE to finally give THF that one, but it was honestly due), subtle blow, skillchain bonus, ability to force crit their own WS's...etc etc

That was the initial complaisant though...with EVERYTHING bst has (NOT JUST CHARM) being offered away. My original one wasnt even about charm, it was about jugs being given away. Who actually charms stuff these days?

why? i never argued that the duration was the same only the fact that the act of charming is the only thing the ja/spell does

You inferred it on the basis that they mentioned being able to equip Pet:TH+ gear and since it doesnt exist, they have to now make it.
The idea that "SE only mentioned that incase the drop in TH is going to be too drastic, they want to be able to give people a chance to upgrade it if they're serious about it" is clearly absurd. But the serious bsts said "stfu perle douchebags, nothings wrong" and SE said "nothings wrong"
Honestly, after all the stupid stuff SE has pulled in the past 10 years, you're really holding onto the mention of pet:TH+ gear as fact and NOW SE is shady?

1. Do you think there is Pet: TH+ gear hidden in the game at this moment?

So if we all agree it doesn't exist now, how are we supposed to use it unless they add it? I mean why even mention Pet: TH+ gear (something we've never seen before) unless you are planning on adding it? I really don't understand how you can say they never said they were going to add Pet: TH+ gear when this is what they said:
"These pets will have a base of Treasure Hunter I, but by using equipment that has “Pet: Treasure Hunter +” the effect will become stronger."
The mention of Pet: TH+ gear is in the same sentence ... The first part they followed through on the second part they said never happened. Lets reword the sentence to have an effect on another job.
"Thf will have a base dual wield of Dual Wield 1, but by using equipment that has "Dagger Delay Reduction" the effect will become stronger."
You wouldn't expect them to add gear with those stats to do what they suggest?

So SE, where are these pet th+ gear you promised bst for gimping th on Yuley and Falcorr? The beastmaster community would like to know. |
|
Hey Malthar,
Firstly, there was no promise to create gear that would counter the reduction of treasure hunter on beastmaster pets Dipper Yuly and Faithful Falcorr.
We received positive and negative feedback about the adjustment of Treasure Hunter for Dipper Yuly and Faithful Falcorr, and we would like to let you know that this was to keep the overall balance amongst other jobs and their Treasure Hunter effects. After thorough review, we are starting to see the results we intended to meet, so there are no plans to make any further Treasure Hunter adjustments to these pets.
We definitely understand the intense discussions these changes have brought about, especially regarding obtaining currency through Dynamis and Beastmaster's qualities, but please understand that the these adjustments were necessary after reviewing the drop results.

| | Greetings,
Please understand that the original message that I posted was not intended as a guarantee that we will be adding this kind of gear in the future. This was meant to only be an example of how the pet’s Treasure Hunter could be enhanced to a higher level. While this does not rule out any possibility of adding equipment like this in the future, it was never a promise that it would be implemented.
