I still don't understand why anyone thought that lamps were a good idea in NNI.
They are a good idea if you simply want to keep the base running in circles until you extrude more content.

I dont have any sort of noticeable lag(which would cause the parser to lose data) and I know the difference of being able to do well on something such as T3 jueno to something like ig-alima/provenance. I'm guessing that it's because you want more data using the math than the actual fight can give you? Edit: Mnkk I can't see the last spoiler inside the main spoiler. They could have amazing gear, the best in the game, but be half-afk not trying, not very good at the game, not used to the fight, not paying attention, not giving 100%, etc. Saying "I outdps 99 rag drks" is silly, because that drk could be any of the above things. Parsing against yourself and doing math is the only real accurate way to tell if job X does more DPS than job Y on fight Z. to add on the list -too many deaths in the fight -reliance on procs to keep up fanatics which causes the above -for some rare reason one person having to do a lot of procs that gets in the way of dd (and I mean an unusually large amount of them) I take those into consideration and it is better to say who I will have better results against (ie the person on this job rather than saying the job itself). By the same token it's also helpful to know who contributes more to a fight than another by observing different people in the same fight on the same job keeps me well informed of those discrepancies and how far and spread out how many fully effective higher end DDs are going to be in your event. For humility's sake the only weapon I use as a DD is almace the other examples were by other people Edit: Kyte: I don't know the discrepancy between amano and masa, people on our server look at amano with higher favor over masa and I usually see amano beating masa. I can't say that both people in any said fights were utilizing them to the fullest extent and had the gear to do so over each other. Why do people think parses lie? Sure the ranking may, you can say that drk parsed only 3% cause he was busy with procs, but when you look at accuracy and it's 40% or that single Resolution and was 900 dmg, something is wrong with the player, and it's not being busy with other tasks.
It is not reflective of a job(like some try to say), but it sure is of the player on it. It is not reflective of a job(like some try to say), but it sure is of the player on it. It's because people take things to extremes. People who run exhaustive math on builds and setups will say that parses are inaccurate as they are comparatively. It is difficult to create controlled enough conditions so that a parse is strictly accurate, but they can certainly be useful as indicators of a trend, should the trend be discernible enough (in this case, the DRK being bad). Similar things happen when you have the "always take Haste" idea - generally speaking, this is a very good view to have. However, there are some situations where this is not necessarily the case, such as pre-neonyzul NIN (Koga Hakama +2 vs Iga Hakama+2/Byakko's Haidate/etc). It is the clumsy application of solid ideas into generalised, overarching concepts. EDIT: Just for an example to illustrate my point, If two players parse against each other, and player x parses 29% and the other (player y) 30%, it would be very risky in general terms to derive any conclusions from that. "y > x" or even "y > x by 1%" are not strong conclusions when you consider the errors involved. However, if a player x parses 15% and a player y parses 45%, assuming no external conditions (eg procs, afking) that would cause this to be the case, you could from that deduce that "y > x" as the margin is sufficiently large. I realize I'm in the minority, however, I don't think much of parsing. I may be alone but I believe math gives the theoretical/ideal answer and a parse gives the experimental result. The problem is that I can do the math alone. I cannot do the experiment alone and I think people (in general and in FFXI) are no damn good. To claim X > Y based on a parse, or even a hundred parses, is merely a shadow of the certainty that "mathing it out" gives me. I understand that it's human nature to generalize that because you beat 1 99 Ragnarok, you can beat them all. But come on. You're smarter than that..... Depending on the event, using a parse to compare individuals and their results is a possibility. It's when people assume to use a parse as an exact measurement of every scenario within an event or on a certain monster that they become an issue in terms of evidence or justification. There's far too many uncontrolled and unknown variables within a parse to use it as any sort of concrete evidence aside from something comparative between the players in the parse, and even then you have to consider variables such as buffs, debuffs, procs, deaths, etc.
Parsing vw where people constantly lose/gain buffs(dispelled, wore off and not reapplied, or drinks wear off and havent got a new one to use) is stupid in my opinion.

It isn't so cut and dry
You can't compare two players fight-by-fight in VW, but you can certainly compare them across a stretch of fights.
brb beating an amano or rag once and thinking I can do it again np.
No, it was not "back-to-back" I love when people make lies to favor themselves. P.S: Don't bring MNK to nyzul. So is 100% sure that lamps .dat is gonna be fixed tomorrow?
No.

What are we supposed to be looking at in that SS?
Reborn LS is trying too call a GM on me when they see me do some Nyzul isle. Yet, they hacked and posted a SS of it. These guys are something else.
Well, if you hadn't made an absolute *** of yourself, maybe non-JPs wouldn't GM you.
It's just a thought. Cya at 9PM EST, Mnkk
;) Too bad you guys vented all your info on how you won and posted SS and such.. now i can give dates and times of your tool use. Peace.
