It goes both ways and neither is right. As some people have already pointed out, there are problems on both sides of the fence here. People need to acknowledge that there are problems on both sides and then work to fix them, otherwise we get nowhere... Double standards are everywhere, and where some might benefit one side, they screw the other, and I mean this in both ways. Everyone is human, and they should be treated as such. I agree with you, except that female=>male domestic violence is actually almost as common if not more common than the reverse. http://www.eworldwire.com/pressrelease/17670 You just don't hear as much about it. There are battered woman's shelters, but little to no relief for men. If an incident occurs, the man is automatically assumed to be the perpetrator (and some branches of law enforcement are told specifically to always arrest the male). For women, taking birth control on a regular basis reduces the risk of ovarian cancer. Specific brands of birth control pills also reduce PMS and PMDD symptoms(Yaz), acne and/or menstrual bleeding etc. So i can see why women are upset about this because. I dont think any woman enjoys PMS or PMDD. Quote: Alimony (also called maintenance (Britain) and spousal support (U.S.)) is a U.S. term denoting a legal obligation to provide financial support to one's spouse from the other spouse after marital separation or from the ex-spouse upon divorce. It is established by divorce law or family law in many countries and is based on the premise that both spouses in theory have a legal obligation to support each other during their marriage (or civil union) or upon separation or/and divorce. Brought to you by wiki... I more meant, if a split is decided upon, why should either support the other? I do not get it. Rejection is only thing I hate about women haha

I guess for the women who raised the family and the man worked, the woman having no job skills to speak of because of the sacrifice for the family I can understand it to that point. But it's gotten way out of hand. edit: same lady that about spit fire when I made fun of people who were allergic to peanuts, she is apparently. I'm sorry if a kid knows he gets sick from peanut butter he shouldn't eat peanut butter, natural selection. All of this is off topic. Just sayin. no, it was about alimony+ something off topic but related to the same person, pay attention. I'm no fan of Santorum but when you refer to someone as your rock it seems to me that that person is important to you, someone you rely on and share with, basically someone you can really count on. The author just made what seemed to be a smart *** remark and said something like no were not people apparently we're rocks lol... Just to clarify, Rick Santorum didn't say she was his rock which is usually good like you said. He calls his wife “the rock which I stand upon.” That's not quite the same thing. I understood the phrase used currently came from the bible.
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. (Psalms 18:2)” A wife is not God (in this instance) but this is also why it is has been seen as such a nice compliment(my opinion). I don't think Santorum would refer to standing on God (but hey, who knows). Semantics, it's fun I have been asking this for years! So are they people? I have my doubts!
They're still doing that war on women?

However, I know I have heard the phrase a few times in my life. The thing is, we know what he means. He knows what he means. The author of this article knows what he means, yet she tried to twist it to suit her purpose and in return ruined the creditablility of the entire article. fyreus said: » They're still doing that war on women? See this is really the annoying part that most people skip over or don't bring up in most conversations about this topic. There are thousands of free clinics in the US, many within a 30 minute drive of most people. These clinics give away free, birth control, condoms, and other contraceptives at no charge. If it's too embarrassing for people to utilize these resources, then a quick google search easily shows that you can get birth control for as little a 10$. (Which is pretty affordable, my copay for my insurance is 10$ no matter what medication I have filled anyway. Even with insurance you're still gonna have to fork out some cash.) Insurance companies are private entities, some of them will offer pans that cover viagra, birth control, amoung other things, and some will not. If your insurance doesn't cover the things you need, get a different plan. If you can't afford it, use other options at your disposal, like the ones mentioned above. If you can't afford birth control you're doing something wrong. All this "war on women" is an invented conflict during an election year to misguide the easily misguided women to be wary of Republicans. Sandra Fluke can't afford birth control, but is flying cross-country to see her bf. This is wrong on soooo many levels. First of all, if your bf is 2000 miles away, why do you need $3k in birth control? And if you can afford the ticket (oh yeah and the Ivy League degree) then you aren't strapped for cash. It's all a sideshow to distract from Fast and Furious, Sheriff Joe, gas prices, unemployment, etc.

Planed Parenthood and other non-pro's have income requirements. So you can technically be "low-income" and still make "too much." Also if you have health insurance you usually cant access such resources. It becomes every more complicated if your a single mom. (E.g. your ex-husband is supposed to pay you child support and doesn't make payments. Well that child support your NOT getting still gets factored into your income). PP Income Reqs Women live longer than men.
More females are born than males. Women birth our young. There's a reason why women have been suppressed by male-dominated societies for centuries ... it's because subconsciously men know damned well that they're biologically inferior to women. Say whatever you want ... that's all truth. One day, unfortunately, science and culture will probably advance to the point where men will become quite unnecessary ... except for labor (the work kind), entertainment (for women), and sperm donation. When the women are in charge of society someday (it will happen, maybe or maybe not be in my lifetime ... probably not), us men better hope they chose to treat us better than we've treated them over the past 2,000 years. And you know what ... they probably will ... one more reason why women are the superior sex. I think overall this topic has become very slanted, but everything is important. Men and women have come in and supported both sides of the topic, some extreme and some not.
America has become a nation that has shifted from oppressing minorities, or coming majorities in the case of women, to trying to integrate them into a world they were once banned from because it is right to do so and all people are created equal. Equal is a term that means that everyone should be safe and have protections; the facts are that people are different and the 'equality' that women fight for is a blanket statement rule of 'x' should apply the same way to women as it does men. The problem then becomes that if those statements apply the same way then one of two things has to happen: 1. Women lose special privileges granted to them by governments/society's cultural beliefs. 2. Men gain special privileges granted to them by governments/society's cultural beliefs. There were decades in every culture where women were seen as the caretaker of the home and there are many cultures who still see it that way because of the way women are perceived due to religion or their own experiences growing up. Just like every other thing in life change takes time and extreme thinking is what is going to get progress stopped. Should women have a say in birth control and things that happen to them and will be used by them for their health? Sure they should; its something they should be discussing with their boyfriends/husbands/doctors etc. Just because the government comes up with a solution doesnt mean it will blanket over all women and solve all issues. On that note, it should be said that child birth is something that directly effects both the mother and the father, it should not just solely be the mothers decision because it is their body; it should be the fathers too because ultimately the child will be the fathers decision too. Regardless of how each person deals with the case, and even if the government rules on certain aspects of it, this is an issue that will still mostly come down to how women and their partners/doctors will come to a decision. Should birth control be free? Of course it should, for many women it is important to their daily health other than just to avoid pregnancy. But saying that it should be a female only discussion is just as pointless as chastising people for excluding women from the discussion. Women are people and have had many special privileges in society because they were secluded from other parts of life. Gaining equality is a hard issue to address because everyone has a different definition of equality and whether a woman gets equal treatment will generally be more dependent on the relationships and positions she chooses to put herself in rather than being oppressed by some external force. Now this does not mean that women are not being raped or that they are not being victimized or that bad things do not happen to people. Things that should not happen to women or men, for that matter, happen everyday and it has nothing to do with your gender it specifically with the desires of the perpetrator. They are doing something to satisfy themselves and you are unlucky enough to be their victim. This is a horrible thing and something that everyone tries to solve but the fact is that the people who do this kind of stuff dont care what other people think, they do it for themselves. I do not like the thought of women being abused or raped or mistreated and i also do not like the thought of men being abused or raped of mistreated. Sorry for the rant and long typing but culture is evolving and everyone wants something different. Things will change for everyone regardless and I think it will depend more on culture and time than anything else. In terms of evolution and various species females are superior. Females have been able to produce asexually for quite some time in both the plant and animal kingdom via a process known as parthenogenesis. We inferior humans simply require it. |
