you shouldn't need to look at a spreadsheet to see if phorcys is better than ace's.... D:
What should I have done instead, calculate all possible variables in my head or just blindly guess?

Question for the "Law" or anyone else good with numbers. Phorcys body + hands for kaiten/shoha beat heafoc mitts?
i'm pretty confident that would be the best combo in most situations. basically comparing extra 2str (heafoc) vs 15atk 2DA (phorcys mitts w/ setbonus +2str)

Dead on.

wry you no answer my question!
Zanshin hits give more TP than a TA proc would.

My spreadsheet says: Phorcys body + hands > Ace's + Heafoc For both Shoha and Kaiten.

Pretty sure I answered it earlier in the thread already...didn't feel like remathing it out. There were situations where AF3 didn't win but they weren't on anything that mattered to carry the extra gear.

It's not hard to compare two pieces keeping everything else equal, especially for a WS.

Specially when one of the pieces has wsdmg+7% lol..

And still, I doubt you are able to do it.
Given that you have percentages involved, such as ws-dmg+ and DA.

Unless you are a genius, it's merely a wild guess in the end.

So the piece having only two less str STR, significantly more attack, and +7% weaponskill damage isn't enough to tell you that it's superior to Ace's?

Here, I'll calculate the variables for you:

2 + 2 = 4

If you didn't write down anything and/or used a calculator, indeed you are.

The most basic of all algebraic functions are hard without paper or a calculator gaiz.

I show my work so people can keep up, or would you rather I just throw out random numbers? It's no different than in school, if you don't show your work, it's counted wrong, even if you have the right answer. If I asked someone to show me, instead of just saying so, and they can't do it, then I just assume they're wrong.

On that note, if we're using windbuffet over ele. belt for shoha, why not ganesha's mala as well unless you need the acc?

It was af3+2/brego glove when you need 2% accuracy or more/or capped gear haste.

Porthos/ogier when uncapped gear haste/capped accuracy. Phos belt +1 / new tp hand augmented with dbatt will obsolete that set anyway.

Edit: clarity !

Edit: gorget over mala cause mala is only 2% QA wich is on average like 0.6fpt while windbuffet has some ta/qa wich average at like 0.11 on a 2 hit ws. ( number might be a lil off, but that's pretty much it)

Well, even if I didn't do it in my head, I can do it on paper and that's more than I can say about you.

As far as mala vs ele gorget, if windbuffet > ele, why wouldn't mala > gorget? H'm? I mean, +2% QA is mathematically equal to +2% TA and +1% QA. Actually, prove me wrong if you wanna talk ***.

Assuming 100 hit, 2% QA = 106 (2 of them with 3 extra hit)
2% ta 1% QA = 107, so no they are not equal! (2 with 2extra hit, 1 with 3 extra hit)

QA diminishes your TA rate as well, though.
