OK question time. This just happened again for the 4th or 5th time ever. Sometimes when I'm fishing in large succession, I will try to cast and nothing happens.... nothing at all... I can move around... but I cannot heal... logout... open doors... do JA's or even cast magic. I can walk around in circles and move just fine... but I can't do anything.
After about 30 seconds to a minute I will randomly pull my fishing rod out REGARDLESS of where I am and start fishing again. Sometimes i get the error message "You cannot change your equipment at this time" if i try to equip something different.
It even happened once while I was on the ferry with kalilla... I couldn't even open the ferry door and suddenly I started fishing in the middle of the boat not near water.
Has anyone else had this happen? It's kind of hard to explain without showing first hand but it almost feels like something really off is happening for like 30 seconds to a minute. I want to wonder if it's a new way to detect fish botting or something. Becuase if you just stand there and try to fish still maybe something bad would happen? But clearly being confused and trying to perform other actions shows you aren't botting?
Anyone else had this issue?

One time I spawned the ??? near mhaura and I was stuck with my fishing pole casted out. I had D call a GM for me, but of course they wouldn't help me since I wasn't the one that made the call >.> and others can't call a GM for someone else >_> logic!!!

Had this happen on a few occasions(Same for a few LS members), still no idea what triggers it. :/
EDIT: Just got Mine/friends Saber shoots from 20 gugs, today is a great day (*'-')

I have read this entire thread over the last 3-4 days, & I would like to say thanks for sharing your stories everyone. I have been extremely bored irl, as per the norm, so I was looking for another lofty, crazy goal. that's when my pea-brain decided it would be a good time to go for lu shang's again. I fooled with it for a while years & years ago, & collected 500 or so carps.
after reading this very insightful thread, it seems the general concensus is to just buy LS, but I really want the test of my patience, attention span, ect. so I think I'm going to keep fishing them up per the quest. I play on ps3, so I haven't/won't be botting them, it's all going to be about the goofiness of fishing in a game. please don't take this paragraph as anti-botting, because I couldn't care less what anyone else does. I just don't have anyone irl that didn't laugh at my new fishy undertaking, & I thought maybe I could get some thoughts/encouragement from this thread, as nobody I know thinks LS chasing is a good idea.
so, anyhow, thanks for the awesome thread!

I did it for the silly key item :P
I have no regrets doing it, was well worth the effort honestly. I loved fishing before I started the quest and I loved it even more after I finished it. Others feel very different about fishing, and don't really understand why someone would enjoy fishing at all, but for those who do I think Lu Shang is a perfect quest for us.
If you decide to try and complete it best of luck, it really is all about dedication day after day. You'll make continual progress, there aren't any random numbers involved other than if the fish bites your bait or not. The only thing that can defeat you is yourself!! >_>

Pirates were on Asura at about 330-430P Eastern time yesterday. I know that doesn't help much now that the Sea Zombie GP is over, but just to answer the question...yes, Pirates are still active. They just weren't around much last night. I was there trying for extras but gave up. I got my 3 so I guess that's something.

Yea, we had 4 people 2 on each boat and no pirates for 4 hours or so last night.
After roughly 14,000 casts, sardine balls have about an 8.5% catch rate on haks.

So, yeah, I'm actually a 108 fisher and I'm embarrassed that I have to ask this, but I have a question about fatigue.
I know the daily cap is 200, 210 with an Ebisu. But what adds to that number? Do mobs, fish you don't reel in, items, etc? What counts toward the total? That'd be good info to have and I can't seem to find that specific answer.

As far as I know, anything that you actually pull out of the water contributes to fatigue, so fish that you don't reel in don't count. Fish that you pull up multiples of with a rig (3 Quus etc.) also only count as one fish as far as fatigue goes.
