I'm pretty sure you need to talk to the npc before you can reel them in, I went like 0/3 boat rides, then talked to the npc, and got the shark on the first reel in.

Hiya, budding fisherman here wondering about 2 things. Do you need to get Mooching if you want to catch Matsya and does the Moglification from the Fishing Stall replace all others such as the Big One and the other GP furniture?

No you don't need mooching to catch Matsya as i've caught a few without, but I did use an albatross ring which I think helps. Also no you don't need the "Big One" to get mega moglification fishing in your moghouse. I have the stall and the fishing sign board and I have mega moglification with just those two, GL out there.

So I just realised today that I have become addicted to fishing. I think I have known this for a while now, but am only just beginning to accept this as fact.. They say the first step on the road to recovery is to admit you have a problem, so;

Hello, my name is Kuni and I am a Fishaholic.

I have Mega Moglification: Fishing with just stall and The Big One, so I'm wondering if stall overrides all the other furniture.

With other crafts at least, the stall on its own is enough to give you the full +5, don't see why it would be any different for fishing.

So basically all you need is the stall and the other GP item and the Big One are completely useless?

If it works like regular crafts, and I don't see why it wouldn't, then all you need is the stall. The others wont add any to it.

After carefully reading it I figured it out.

after reading through the july 24th version update notes, this line I read and I will quote

"Ex Item Delivery Revisions
The list of undeliverable exclusive items has been updated."

and yet Shaper's Shawl is NOT on the undeliverable same-account items!

That means that there's a bug in both Plumb Boots AND Shaper's Shawl that made it non-deliverable between same-account characters! I tried CTRL-F searching on that page and it's not there. So that means that it WAS intended to be deliverable that way. So I guess I should report this as a bug. Hopefully the Devs get this and fix it.

It's not there with no missing lines :p so maybe there's hope

SE doesn't announce/indicate all new items included with each update; they add them, and let the players find them. That is, Shaper's Shawl and Plumb Boots were added, but SE didn't want to spoil the surprise by naming these items in the update notes in whatever form. Of course, such discoveries usually take the form of .DAT mining. Nevertheless, SE wouldn't include those items in the ex delivery list because then people would be all like "LOL wat r those items I wunder?"

Any idea as to what level of fishing you can start effectively reeling in Matsya? I know most people 100+ do it, I was just wondering if I could start lower at around 90-95.

With mooching or ring you probably could successfully reel them in at 95, but you'll probably get way too many line breaks.

Since line snaps are a function of fishing level, and the line snap rate on these is already so ridiculous...

I, personally, would not suggest this. You'd be better off just fishing Haks or Ebisu fish for gil and buying Matsyas.

Well I want the cape and Cave Cherax are ridiculously easy skill ups, I don't see the point in fishing any of those other fish and buying the Matsyas.

Hakuryus are hard to get for me since people buy out all the Minnows and stuff before I can blink. Gugs sound really annoying to fish and Liks are pointless unless you have a bunch of space or a buyer for them. Not to mention the fact that Haks make like 500k a day, which is basically one Matsya.

The way I'm doing it is skilling up on Cave Cherax all the way to 110 and then just using the bait I rack up from gutting them to get the cape. I was just wondering what level I could be able to cash my bait in.

Only 6 weeks after hitting 101 fishing, it finally happens ...

I'm really not looking forward to leveling cooking 100-110 if skill ups are anything near as bad as this is for me.

Cooking actually wasn't that bad on my mule, got to 101 in maybe two stacks of dragon meat? Maybe I was just super lucky or something D: I haven't tried farther because I just have no motivation to log and harvest the ingredients atm . ~.

I've been fishing Abaia to get a friend the boots and it's been really irritating me. I'm 93.4 fishing, with body/hands/legs/feet, stall, adv fishing support and that sword fish furnishing, and I must break my line about 80% of the time <_< Is line breaks based on lower skill, or just shitty luck? It really sucks losing all those fish D:

Over the years people have claimed higher skill, closer to that of the fish, lessens line breaks. I can say, not from parser facts but just by eyeballing it, I seem to break my lines much much less on Lik's and Gugru than I did when I started them in the low to mid 90's working on my ebisu. This was back around 2008 though so many things could have changed since then. I like fishing them much more than Haks for gil but hate doing ring fights to catch them every few weeks. Marlins hate giving me charts >_<

Haks are a different story though. I swear something stupid like weather, moon, or day effects line breaks on them. Some days I can catch 50 of them in a couple hours with very minimal line breaks. Other days I barely manage 10 in a couple hours and twice that many lost lures!

Tonight I fished about 1:30 and bought 30 lures, came back with 18 lures and 23 Haks.

One thing I am starting to notice thanks to the 5 bots we have there 24/7, Hak's seem to all come in waves. When it's slow I notice the bots all catch maybe 1 or 2 every 5 minutes combined. Then for some reason, they come in like crazy for a bit for everyone, then stop again. Really would like to know if something in game does effect their bite rates and/or breaks :\

I noticed this too Bek, it's like you need to get warmed up sometimes when you first get to a zone when fishing. Once you start getting a few catches then they start coming a lot easier it seems. Your theory sounds interesting but I don't have the time or the patience to test any of that.

With that said, I noticed when I was around 108 fishing I started on Cave Cherax for obvious reasons and I capped on those within a week using pelican ring. After capping there was no longer the need for the pelican ring obviously so I switched to fulltiming Puffin/Noddy and noticed more line breaks at times than with the lower skill and pelican ring.

The point to my rambling here is that I do agree skill isn't the only factor here when it comes to line breaks, just from what I've noticed trying to catch gugs/cherax/matsya and the like. I think you're on to something.

Hi guys.

Slowing working on my fishing, around lv.50 now. I'm also about 50% of the way on the 10,000 moats..

Have a question re: Guild GPs. In your opinion, should I keeping saving (around 50k GPs) for Serpent Rumors, or should I be getting the Waders / Apron first?

Thanks muchly.

Armored Pisces have still been quick skillups for me from 100-105 right now. I'd end a 200 fish session with around .5-.6 gained.

Same here... I wish they had released the Shawl info after this one because I had been waiting a couple of weeks for this one to roll around. Shawl got released, everyone and their mother started fishing, and I got smoked lol... 48th place wooo!

Go to do my normal rounds of buying minnows for a couple hours of fishing.

Windy>Soldout
Whitegate>Soldout
Ferry>Soldout (Both sinking and normal)

Guild holiday ends.

Every guild store is still sold out.
