Ok, so... I fish with two different characters. Both 100 fishing with Ebisu. Both have the fishing stall and +2 skill neck. One has the fishing smock, "the big one" furnishing, and waders (the only difference in these two characters, item wise).
The elvaan, the one with the smock furnishing and waders, usually fishes up 175~ haks/day.
The taru, the one lacking the above mentioned items, fishes up 185-190~ haks/day.
This has happened everyday for the last week and a half.
I just thought it strange.
Edit: I think this proves that taru-tarus are luck sacks.

Caught my 9901th moat carp today. Caved and bought 100 of them to get my Lu Shang's :)

Just hit level 28 in fishing today and I didn't hit my 200 fish limit, and yet... I keep getting the "Didn't catch anything" message every time now and I can't catch a Giant Catfish...

I think it might not have included the fish I had released when my inventory was full; other than that, I can't think of any other reason it happened.

You probably are too low to do GP aren't you?
Anyways, once you start doing GP save those rank up on really high point days.
If you can get 2k then rank up and get 2.5k or more that really helps you in the long run.

I haven't ranked up yet to Novice yet on Fishing, so I don't have any GP at the moment for Fishing. How can I tell if it is a high point day?

ohhhh, stay with cooking for now til you are ready. You'll loose your points if you change.
Aw, that sucks :< guess I'll have to hold off on my rank up then. I thought it wouldn't be effected just like how Fishing can go to 100 and you can have another 100 craft/synergy
I was in the same boat Grimkitty, I just started working on moat carp and pushed to finish my Bonecraft GP. 10k GP away from being 100% on every item from Bonecraft. Looking back it was well worth the patience.
Artisan's Advantage up on my server has anyone noticed a difference at 100? I know it helps with harvesting and gardening as well as skill ups, but what about us Fishers?
A friend asked me to go get them some Lik with my super awesome Ebisu... so I stock up on some minnows and head out. I catch 12 Lik without breaking a single line, thinking 'hell yes!'. As soon as I mention to them that I am having really good luck and should have a good haul for them, I start breaking lines... 23 of them in a row.

Everything else helps, but that's the bare minimum. I do pretty well with it honestly.

Yea, it is. Anything and everything helps with them considering how much time you're going to spend catching them.
Been trying for months now fishing myself for Liks and Gugs some guy just said why dont you just buy mass amount of them, so i was thinking about trying that out in the end the Ebisu will be worth it in the end... Just finished getting a Fisher's Torque and thought I'd share my story to help anyone else who may be after one too. Saw 2 torques within a 15 minute time frame (lost first I saw due to chest disappearing... story below)
Anyways, how I did it: Worked on page 7 and got Mystery Boxes Prowess to lv2, which took several (about 5 I'd say) LONG hours solo.. I know it goes to 5 but after probably 2 hours of nothing but other prowess' drop, decided to try something out. I should mention the Super Kupower "Mystery Boxes: Windhurst" is active this week on my server.
After that I moved to the main room near the entrance and started killing the the low level goblins and bats. Decided to AoE them all down at once but didn't expect 7 brown boxes to drop. Torque was in the last one but it disappeared just as I opened it... Did AoE method again after that but in smaller batches and saw another torque within 15 minutes.
So, don't AoE the entire front area down unless you have enough people to help you open boxes. If solo, do smaller batches and you can possibly get this done rather quickly. Every time I'd AoE a set of ~10 mobs, I saw usually 2-3 brown chests.

My first 2 attempts at getting the torque i spent literally hours building prowesses just to end up needing to leave, i actually got the torque from my 2nd box on my 3rd visit, took maybe 30 minutes. I see it as i see 99% of other crap in the game, luck.. prowess may help but very little.

So, I caught some Abaia for a linkshell member so he could make some hippo jugs. Biterate is pretty terribad on them, and the snaps happen more often than not. Line snap rate for hakuryu is pretty close to 33%, and I'd say the line snaps for Abaia are closer to 66%
