That santa claus is real Vinvv!!! He is a real guy, that really existed. He lived.
The red suit and the chimney stuff I don't know where that crap came from or why it stuck but santa claus is real.
Santa Claus as we know it today takes elements from Saint Nicholas, who gave gifts, ancient Norse tradition where people left socks out for Odin when he'd ride across the sky and reward children with gifts and commercialization in the US which merged all of the previous stories into the Santa we know today.
The North pole bit is rather new compared to the rest of the story as is the invention of Mrs. Claus and the elves that work to produce all the toys.
I like how my entire expo-say on the Hebrew religion and history is basically lost upon the fact that it was "one whole page back" and the new topic of interest is Santa Clause.
Now I'm interested again. Where was your final divide when it came to theology? There had to be a breaking point. What was that for you?
Vin and I both posted our breaking points with organized religion in another thread. What was yours?
Mostly the history of the Hebrew faith and the origins of most of the old testament (most of the Hebrew faith is derived from the Hittites). Once you take away the actual origin of the Jewish theology and learn a bit of the actual history on Jesus, it's clear that the current narrative of this solid Hebrew faith (chosen people) that later birthed the messiah is COMPLETELY false and is just a conglomerate of other culture's faiths, with a mix of hebrew history and some good allegorical lessons (and bad ones).
Having my understanding of the Hebrew history shaken up, I began researching the topic HEAVILY and determined that christianity was false (especially current versions of it, which have no relation to early versions of it).
I then began my studies into physics/evolution, since I had naively spent so much of my life arguing with people that those concepts were fake (because I was so faithful).
So basically: Study of religion and history made me question theism (turned me into an agnostic, part atheist). Study of science turned me into a hard atheist.
bump(I usually just delete my post and repost it on the next page if i get "page'd" as I call it)
I wonder how many Christian brothers know what Hittites are in the first place...lolz.

Christmas is waaaaaaaaaaaaay more important. About as many times more as the amount of a's I used in way.

Admit that you all laughed at me when I said Santa Claus was real thirty mintes ago. AND you did not believe he existed. And now thirty minutes later you see that it is at least possible that he did exist.
Hold off on the jesus stuff for just a minute, we still need to carve out theis new reality in your minds. That someting you found laughably untrue is now a firmly held belief that yes, that a guy named santa claus probably existed.because this is no small thing to realize.
NOW, What is the most important part in the stories about santa claus?

When did I laugh?
quote me.
If not Stfu about it already.
Quit lumping everyone who says anything contrary to what you say together.
I chose my words very carefully, I said "can be", wrap your mind around that one buttlick.
hell, I'll quote my own damn self, it'll be easier than expecting you to do it.
let's see.
I'll quote it, and this is verbatim, no changes, cept I'm going to bold something and make the letters capital and underline.
me said:
I'm damn sure he isn't jumping into every chimney across the globe on the 25th, THAT santa clause doesn't exist lol.
and here's more(again, cap, underline, bold):

Right, but just because someone lied about him doesn't make him unreal.
Did I say that he wasn't real?
No.
I said the version of him jumping into all the chimneys across the globe isn't real.
That's a VERSION of St. Nick my friend.
game over Nikky, victor for this battle goes to-me.

Most individuals who are deep into the faith haven't read the text cover to cover.
I remember first reading Exodus 21 and my jaw hit the ground. This wasn't the Bible I was told about through childhood. No one talked about any slavery during Sunday School either.

Being deep into faith and not knowing the Bible=poor excuse for a Christian if you ask me(for the most part).
I know many don't just because they'd rather get them into package-able snippets every sunday service and live life in ignorant bliss(I'm specifically referring to my Grandmother here)
If you say you are a Christian and you don't know your bible and you are chatting here GTFO and read your bible and actually learn something about what you're professing to believe.(not directed at anyone specifically) If God wanted to make you a fully faithful being he would have made you one.(threw this one in as a preventative counter-argument to someone saying something to the extent of this: "I shouldn't read it because I'm faithful" kind of argument, though they would say they shouldn't question it.)
This is where you assume, and incorrectly I may add.
I do apply it to every aspect of my life. Since we have little understanding of the grand scheme (ie. science falls short at this moment) my belief is that there is a greater being that has set this into motion and keeps it from falling to chaos. Reactions in experiments are quite unstable, as you probably know. It is with our hand we keep them controlled. We have neither the knowledge or the power to do so with larger things (creation of the universe, planetary collision, general earth functions [earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, jet stream, etc]) so why would it not be so that there is a being powerful and knowledgeable enough to do so?
Oh ok, it's mostly ignorance on your part then (I don't mean that as an insult, but I know you'll take it that way).
By ignorance on your party I mean:
We actually have a pretty damned good idea (based on evidence, observation, mathematical models, and reproducible peer reviewed experiments) on pretty much everything you stated:
We understand how stars form from hydrogen (and how hydrogen forms from bosons/leptons/etc).
We understand how stars create heavy elements in their core during fusion.
We understand how those heavy elements get sent into outer areas of each solar system once a start supernovas and reforms, causing the development of orbiting heavy elemental rings, and eventually planets.
We understand how heavy element planets in the right distance on the orbital paths provide breeding grounds for complex molecular development.
We understand how base chemicals form into amino acids. How amino acids form into proteins, how proteins form into complex life.
We understand how complex life forms into more complex life over time.
Basically, everything you've mentioned we have a pretty damn good understanding of (not to say we can't get a better understanding). It's FAR FAR FAR from as ambiguous and unknown as you're attempting to broadcast.
Furthermore, while we may still be guessing about what happened in the .003 seconds we can't yet reconcile with our current knowledge, I can point you to about half a dozen PLAUSIBLE theories that are based on math, reason, observation, and evidence. At no point in any of these observations (due to the way relativity works, we can actually *** SEE into the past and see all of this stuff happening, we're not *** guessing here) do we ever find a need for a god, or even a suggestion.
I repeat: There is NOTHING in our universe that requires a god. Volcanoes do not errupt because some being is farting really hard under the surface. The sun doesn't provide heat because Xeno the 4th is using his microwave. It isn't raining because Zeus is crying. It's ludicrous.
The only place god comes into any of this is humanity's imagination, when describing phenomena they didn't understand, back when they were ignorant sand people. "God" has been sustained as a belief simply because it's a social virus, and nothing more.
I had a 5min reply to this, but the server ate it in its hiccup, I give up.
laughs when I say things like "Santa Claus is Real" because it's funny, it's ment to be a funny statement, and it's perfectly ok to laugh. Because on the one hand it is a completely rediculous statement. People have a concept of what santa claus is in their minds. Mostly made from the coke and pepsi commercials etc.
and we all "discovered" at some point in our lives that santa claus wasn't real. That there is no guy in a red suit that climbs down your chimney giving you presents and it's heartbreaking in a lot of cases.
But that's not right either. Just because the story you were told about santa claus isn't true, it doesn't mean he didn't exist.

Oh I didn't mean it as an offense, I was actually thinking of Dumb and Dumber quote ...or was it Dumb and Dumberer.
I think it's Dumb and Dumberer.
anyhoo, in regards to your post replying to everyone else here ya go:

double-edit:
I'm just railing this line of thinking because no one else has said anything yet lol.
But seriously dude.
You so siwwy.
Once you strip away all the crazy crap people made up about santa claus what are we left with for certain? What do we know? What did we learn? What was he trying to tell us before it got lost in a blizzard of silver tinsel?
Being deep into faith and not knowing the Bible=poor excuse for a Christian if you ask me(for the most part).
Too many people rather pick and choose what they want to believe. It's almost as if the Bible is a "choose your own adventure" book where Jesus is whoever you want him to be.
The widespread ignorance is hilarious. People who sit in church for years know jack ***about what they profess to be apart of.
When ~40% of Christians believe the entire Bible was written after Jesus' death, you know that most people are just full of it or using some element of Pascal's wager.

12% of adults believe that Noah's wife was Joan of Arc.

Why does he have to try to tell us something again?
Santa Clause is a product of hundreds and hundreds of years of telephone.
Regardless of what validity may be within you really can't be for sure unless you were actually there for the beginning and even then it would be questionable because then you would be in question as well as he because you would also be hundreds of years old and by human inmplications dead so you couldn't speak for yourself either, unless you are in actuality a highlander.
