This is on par with my excitement for Skyrim and ME3.
In fact I'll likely be upgrading my PC revolving around those three games. With that said, do you tech folks think this will suffice for performance in generally high settings?
I was runnin BF3 on high with an under clocked, dying HD4870, never had one bit of lag, even though so many others were complaining about lag.. Can't speak for ME3 or Skyrim, but that should be fine for BF3..
i have HD4850 and i didn't get lag either lol
My only concern would be on the larger scale maps with the full release as well as the terrain on Skyrim.

might need a power plug converter and it could be region locked

It won't end up being locked.. Very little on PS3 gets region locked. Now if you try to buy map packs or something, you might have some issues..

PS2 games, DVDs, Blu-rays and content you buy through PSN is locked, but the games themselves (and access to the online servers) are very rarely locked out. If it was to get locked, it wouldn't be the first PS3 game to be locked, it's just not a common practice.

more than a plug the box would need to be different because teh amount of power coming form the wall changes in different countries

didn't region lock only take affect when you import a game "lets say from Japan" and try to use it in your PS3 (example a US ps3)?
I don't think the servers will be region based and if they are just create a new PSN account in your region of choice.
So yeah just watch where you buy your Copy of Battlefield and thats all I got.
The game isn't out yet so we don't know for a fact if it is or not
But I like those boxes ; ;.. Hell there's like 10 PC games sitting ontop of my desktop atm (a bunch more up in the attic).. and I have a milk crate full of PS3 games.. I like being able to look and admire my collection of games..
From what I'm reading seems like the only people who will get BETA are those who pre-ordered from Origin..

very weird
well I know there was a Code inside the Medal of honor (i think the special edition)game that grants access to the beta for sure
but oh well xD I am sure EA will have a page giving out codes to a select few

I have my limited edition MoH with beta ^^ and I will be preordering from origin in the next day. I'll be playing on 360 and PC. Wanna get a feel for both.
CAN'T WAIT TO GET IN MY JET! I need a new flight stick badly though, my old one is severely worn out from BF2.. 2 of the buttons are pretty much useless =/.
Also, the chaos is what I love about Battlefield.. You never really see that in any other online FPS. Glad to see it's still going to be very chaotic.. The Alpha left a lot to be desired, because it was only one map, with 1 APC.. It was mostly a snipe fest. Although even it had it's moments, like when you'd pushed them back so far it was defend the last 2 objectives or lose the match, it would turn into total chaos, cuz everyone was packed in very close range, explosions going off everywhere, bullets flying everywhere.
Omg I can't wait for this! I probably already know this and it is probably no, but I hope they have jets on the Xbox version!
I kinda doubt they will.. They've said to compensate in the console version and a console's limits (more or less) that matches will be reduced to 32 people, and the maps will be smaller.. Which likely means just choppers..
GamesCom has ended, and DICE didn’t just reveal a ton of Battlefield 3 news, screenshots and videos, Battlefield 3 pretty much stole the show (and received the “Best in show” award as well). Here’s a complete roundup of the news at GamesCom, and all the game features that have been confirmed at the show.

Gameplay features
Commo Rose has been confirmed. DICE is working on a console version of Commo Rose as well.
3D spotting has been revised.
Motion sensors are back, but cannot be thrown, and have to be deployed.
The EOD bot can be used to arm MCOMs, repair vehicles and disarm mines.
Players can spawn on any squad member now, but DICE is looking into it.
Kill-cam is back.
Jet max height is 1000m (same as BF2).
Jets will be available on consoles as well.
Bullets from different weapons have different velocity speeds, bullet drop is back as well.
Weapons are faction specific, but you can unlock other faction’s weapons once your rank up high enough.
Weapon silencers will be available on almost all weapons except shotguns.
Assault rifles with long, high-zoom scopes will have “glint” as well.
Claymores are back. You can crouch past them, but have to use explosives to blow up claymores and mines.
Vehicles will have regenerative health until being disabled.
/sigh.. I hope it's at least disabled in Hardcore mode.. I've always hated kill cam..

3D spotting has been revised.
Thank god, although I'd prefer it be removed entirely, hopefully it too will be gone in Hardcore mode. Games with 3D spotting just tend to turn into sniper/scope fests with people firing at red dots when they can't even see the enemy to begin with. From what I saw, this game is no exception.
The Battlefield 3 beta is just around the corner, but already DICE has made quite a few refinements to the multiplayer with help from fan feedback. According to executive producer Patrick Bach, the number of changes already made to the game based on alpha feedback ranges in the hundreds. The beta promises to keep even more changes coming, making a day-one patch likely.
Still not sure how BETA is going to work.. It's mostly all rumor at this point I suppose, but from what I've gleaned, it looks like those who have MOH Limited get into the BETA first, then after that it's open (not sure if that means there's limited spots or if they just get it earlier) and that BETA will only be over shortly before release. No actual date has been said yet (that I can find) on when BETA opens.. I've been Googling about every 12 hours looking for signs that it's live.
Dice is going to have a PR nightmare on their hands when they push this game out for the Consoles. Half the Frame Rate, half the Player Cap, but they're only publicizing the PC version... It's not going to end well, mark my words.
Inb4 Do ur research before buying the game. The majority of people drawn to these games don't have the attention span for proper product research.
BETA could be out any day now. PC version is already ready for release, now it's just going through approval with Sony and Microsoft (we don't know when this process started) which usually takes between 2-3 weeks.
Decided to go ahead and make a thread on it since there isn't one yet, and wanted to see who all is getting it?
Well PC version anyways, I hate playing FPS on console, it's one of the few (maybe the only?) genre where playing on PC actually makes the most sense (due to keyboard/mouse rather than controller. Mouse makes for far better reaction times, using a keyboard takes some getting used to though). If you plan on getting it on PC we should hook up in game and pop some heads. :).
I will be pre-ordering it, nothing could stand in my way of getting it.. I'm a huge Battlefield fan, and have been since 1942.
I was actually in a state of shock when I saw that 3 was on it's way.. I hadn't actually kept up on the next/newest installments, and while I love BC and BC2, there's just no Battlefield on console that compares to BF2 (and arguably, no FPS on console period that does).
