The 3-5 years professional experience always gets me, and has since I graduated.
I've got the years of experience, it's just not focused enough. As a Marine, certain things were simply collateral duties.

I never thought about getting a SharePoint job, because it was simply something else I maintained. Now here I am working as a SharePoint Content Manager because a company recruiter noticed it in the midst of my resume. Apparently it's a decently growing field. Hoping I can get myself into the development side of things once I school myself up.

I hate Sharepoint so very much. I think it's a decent document management tool but nothing more than that. Its revision tracking is probably the only thing I was like, "Oh, that's a nice feature".

As far as sites and pages go.. it's horrible. For a medium sized business it's a disaster, because they're much too complex for a single person to maintain, so responsibilities go to many more people. Enter "limited access" into all your document libraries now. Permissions are a nightmare to deal with unless you already had an existing(and functional) Active Directory setup. Even having a strong background in ASP.NET, when dealing with Sharepoint, you start at ground zero.

Why so many companies are going to a Sharepoint model, when they already have existing functional models is beyond me.

I believe they're still looking for people. It wouldn't hurt to send Jaerik a PM to discuss it further.

Kind of unrelated, but I do have a question for anyone who may work as a hiring recruiter or whatnot.

When you interview and take assessments with a company and they say "we're moving forward the offer stage", but it's been almost a week or so and haven't heard anything, should I be concerned?

Call them and ask them how the process is going/where you stand.

You'd be surprised but like 75% of people get hired simply because they are the ones who follow up with the employer.

Call. You have to stay on top of some recruiters. Some will follow up with you every day, some will never call you back.

Knew someone personally, that sent the prospective employer a shoe with a note attatched: "Just wanting to get my foot in the door" He was interviewed the next day and is employed with em to this day; 5 years later...
