Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
YouTube Video Placeholder Wow having to memorize all those dumb mechanics with flashing lights all over the place and markers glowing. Just looks like a headache honestly, but more power to the ppl that find that fun. The music is really nice though.

You find the raids to be bland and dumb, basically only an exercise of team jump rope and dodge the telegraphs. You can already tell based on the posts I've been making that I am kinda on a XIV train for the latest ultimate fight. Why do you choose to consume content that is clearly not catered to your tastes? Let alone watch enough to formulate an opinion that the mechanics are dumb and the flashing lights give you a headache. If you know you are already going to dislike it before even opening the link, why even bother? It is genuinely odd behavior to me. So clearly you are bothered someone gives a negative opinion, somehow on a thread that is about random thoughts and various discussions, you deem it "odd behavior" only because I gave a negative view. I give everything a fair shake, I clicked the video to see what was being discussed and gave my opinion like anyone else. If you want an echo chamber you would have probably been better off posting it on XIV only forums.. otherwise its expected people are gonna give different opinions.
I don't instantly hate everything/anything related to that game, I even said I liked the music. I just think the combat is exactly as you described except this one was even worse with having to memorize multiple phases.. Just complete masochism. Sorry for not liking your game or if I hurt your feelings. I just picked a random manga.
Two volumes, short enough. Title: My wife is his bride What…. First few pages: the girl couldnt choose between two best friends so…. She married both! Yeah, right, lets see where this ***goes…. Offline

Pretty sure they're the first on-stream group to do it, so they win Mogtalk's prizes. What a fantastic fight. Wish I sucked less so I could do it lmao.

Like I will repeat, I'm genuinely curious as I do find it odd given your heavily consistent negative bias towards XIV. I was not attempting to instigate anything and I was being neutral and respectful. I can respect wanting to give "Everything a fair shake" but if you also choose to respond with snark, sass, and sarcasm; so be it. *Shrugs* Guess the conversation is done after one response. Using Absolute Virtue again as my only frame of reference, I'm guessing Square-Enix wouldn't want a repeat of players getting sick trying to beat a {Mega Boss} in one of their publications. But seeing as how it's a race, I imagine players would go to extremes to win. And with no mechanics such as consumption of resources nor a time penalty for re-entry, I wonder how they're preventing it. Basically for these world first races people take a week or whatever off of work and raid 12-16hrs a day. A lot of them are streamers anyway so they're getting paid regardless. SE doesn't currently recognize the world first race but they used to give shoutouts to the world first team. Not anymore since people spoiled it with all the cheating. The last Yoshida shout out was TEA. MOGtalk is an unofficial event run by the community that donates proceeds during the race to charity and puts together prize pools for the top teams. And with no mechanics such as consumption of resources nor a time penalty for re-entry, I wonder how they're preventing it. From some interviews of winners of previous races, it seems the really hardcore elites do have dedicated sleeping schedules and even make easy to prepare but nutritious meal packs so they can take their break, recharge, and get back into things quickly. I'm not sure if the raiders that are streaming do the same thing, but I imagine they would take nods from their slightly more elite counter parts so they don't burn out and lose the race. It's important to go fast but also pace yourselves well too so you don't let your team down, which leads to the next point below. Since XIV boss fights is about understanding the fight and all its nuances, it's better to keep running the same core eight people instead of swapping them out with new members as those new members have to adapt to the established dance the team has formulated, slowing down progression. With a fight that is 20 minutes long, you can imagine the extreme importance of consistency for the sake of progression. Instead, many of the elite crews have been using additional members who spend time analyzing stream footage and working out strategies while the eight continue to grind out the fight. This can range from one to three additional members. Right now, there is no officially S-E sanctioned race, but Mogtalk has hosted the unofficial World Race for a very long time and got a lot of community support behind it. Generally speaking, it's up to the raiders themselves to determine the amount of hours they want to dedicate but the winner is the first stream team who gets the achievement. To date, there has been no severe health concerns that have been brought up to public light in any of the races held. There has always been some form of drama though, usually a static imploding or third party tools hampering the spirit of fair competition (kinda, that's a really big and drama filled grey area right now). It feels like there would be far too much dynamic between States to make this happen well. 60s NYC - Boston 5ish hours. NYC - Wa DC - 4. 60 - 65 MPH, 100 KPH +-. This is still no congestion time today.... Megalopolises extend beyond state borders. New York city is not Manhattan island nor is its megalopolis defined by the boundaries of its five boroughs. The new york metropolitan area, as defined by economic and commuting ties, sprawls over 3 states. You can quit the forum games, this isn't XIV OF, you aren't going to get in trouble lol. You just got annoyed someone made a negative comment, it happens literally 24/7 to anyone that still likes XI so its not uncommon. In fact, the same group of people love to paint XI players as some dummies that aren't civilized to like multiple different games, instead of just simply not liking that game or its gameplay in general. That doesn't mean I can't make an opinion on it when its a topic of discussion, it wasn't malicious and I even said the music was cool. I used about the same snark as you did, but I really didn't mean to offend so its not sarcasm. Just giving an opinion is all, I find it crazy someone finds that fun and just made a passing by comment. I'm sure those same people find it crazy I still enjoy a 20 year old game, so nobody is convincing anyone. Just to me it seems like a big headache and not fun at all, 20m fight and memorizing literally every mechanic and positioning yourself in the exact spot. Practicing a jump rope game just like you said. Barely/no leeway for error or you restart, no real job diversity or unique abilities to rely on. Just seems exactly like you said, bland and boring. I may be alone in this, but I kind of don't like things like Ultimate and the idea of World First recognition.
I get that the world is inherently a competitive place, but idk, it's always sorta smacked of gaming for the wrong reason to me. No matter how much it's denied by the raiding scene, it's always done partially for the prestige. The accolades. The glory. Without all the attention it garners, I wonder how many people would still do it. Without all the attention it garners, I wonder how many people would still do it. That's understandable and respectable. In general, I feel that mentality describe any competitive activity - the motivation to prove you are the best and it's no different here. For some, there is nothing really interesting about that. I personally don't think there is anything wrong with a little bit of competition as it also typically drives people to want to get better and exceed the percieved limitations of something. But I dislike how it may also delve into the darker side of things that take away the spirit of fair competition either. At that point, I feel there is no reason to compete if you don't respect your competitors and wish for a level playing field. Offline

Without all the attention it garners, I wonder how many people would still do it. It's there because this formula works. Once upon a time there was a big budget MMO aiming for casual gameplay with no raid after reaching level cap. People would reach level cap, get bored and quit. New player come and repeat the same, get bored and quit. As hardcore MMO players bash this game endlessly on MMORPG.com forums because of it, forcing dev to release endgame content in subsequent expansions. This game is called Guild Wars 2, I wonder how many people still remember this game now lol. Unlike single player games, MMO will need both casual and hardcore player in the community to stay alive, and competition+glory from the competition is the best way to keep hardcore players around IMO. Wow and FFXIV both proved this formula is successful commercially, why change something that already works so well? This will be my last response to you about this as it's clear you do not want to have a normal and respectful discussion about this. I asked my initial question because I was genuinely curious why you do what you do. You responded in tone that shows, to directly quote you: Quote: clearly you are bothered someone gives a negative opinion, somehow on a thread that is about random thoughts and various discussions. You are currently projecting your opinion upon me that I am offended by your one comment regarding The Omega Protocol. I have stated twice now that I was not offended or bothered but you obviously do not believe and will continue to disbelieve my sentiment and stance. This is why this discussion is over because you choose to not have an open dialogue and instead continue to instigate I am the offended one when your tone is clearly significantly more "bothered" than I am. I will respect your view to give everything a "fair shake". That is all I wanted to know. I guess I should have known there is no really reason to interface with you at all based on the years of responses I've seen in the past. You typically just respond with:
Anyways. Sorry to all the other readers for clogging up these forums with this wall of text. As I said, this will be my last response to Draylo regarding this. I don't know why you keep talking like that, making ultimatums. I think you are in debate mode or something, so to me it does appear that way but if I'm wrong about you being upset then that's good. It just appeared as if you were annoyed I would make a negative comment amidst your discussion and then make a snarky post under the guise of curiosity but really just a jab insinuating I am either a masochist for "consuming" content I hate or that I am trying to start drama.
Yes that is my answer, I clicked it out of interest in the discussion about the cheating and was reminded of the gameplay and as a bonus a bunch of flashing lights everywhere. Then I typed my opinion but did make it to near the end where the music got all techno and thought it was neat. Then I left my opinion in a post. I dont know why it turned into this long drawn out convo, and I don't know why you think you know what I'm going to say or why you keep being negative and shutting down discussion pre-emptively. Its really not that serious, I even said more power to the ppl that enjoy it. I think its great you enjoy that game! Life's Greatest Riddle;
You have one snowbrush for your car. Where do you keep it. If you keep it in the car, you have to brush the snow off the door or trunk with your hand to get into the car to get the brush. If you keep it in the house, when you leave if it snows you have no brush in your car. Asura.Eiryl said: » You have one snowbrush for your car. Where do you keep it. And when your door is frozen shut..... lol
Also yes, using your hand to clear the door to get the brush invalidates the use of the brush. Thats why it's a riddle. Easy, then. Keep it on your person at all times. Strap it to your waist like a sword, and unsheathe it when the snow doth blanket your automobile.
Ah, I suppose that is the answer. Keep it on the human. I did never consider that.
