its based of a series of japanese tv series, usualy the parts with them outside the outfits are refilmed with american actors or episodes cut entieraly. think the number of japanese series is at least 3 times as much than the NA ones

The JP version was more adult themed too. At one point Rita basically summoned Satan to revive her own son, who she then killed as a tribute to Satan in order for him to kill the Green Ranger.
