Yu-gi-oh Duel Result That I Don't Understand.

So I'm playing Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds: Duel Transfer on the Wii. I was playing against an NPC on the 4th level in story mode that uses a Volcanic Pyro deck. Here's the Run down of the situation:

My LP - 7600
His LP - 6600

He has 2 monsters on his side of the field: Flame Spirit Ignis and another monster with 300 Attack points. I have one monster in defense position. He kills my defense monster with his Ignis, and hits me directly with 300 damage.

My LP - 7300
His LP - 6600

The following turn I draw Injection Fairy Lily and summon it to attack. I attack his monster that has 300 atk points and activate Lily's effect by paying 2000 LP. His monster is hit with 3400 attack and he takes 3100 damage.

My LP - 5300
His LP - 3500

The following turn he summons a Volcanic Scattershot in attack mode. He attacks my Fairy Lily and of course I activate her effect. I lose 2000 LP and he attacks with 500 attack points. His Scattershot is destroyed and he takes 2900 damage.

My LP - 3300
His LP - 600

All fine and dandy right? I thought I had it won. Next turn I would summon a monster, kill his Ignis and attack with my other. But wait...here's the part I don't understand. For some unexplained reason when his Scattershot is destroyed by my Lily I also take 2900 damage just like him. So:

My LP - 400
His LP - 600

His Scattershot's effect then activates from the grave cause it was destroyed and I take 500 more damage and lose the duel.

He attacked with his Scattershot cause the AI knew that would happen if I spent my LP to use Lily's effect, but no where on any of the monsters does it have any effects that would make me get hit with that 2900 damage. I have no idea why I took that damage, and I don't think I ever will. Anyone know? lol

without you telling us what other cards would be active/ in the graveyard i can't say much :/

those games can be buggy as well anyway :/

Did you notice the AI send any cards to the graveyard that might have a special effect in "x" number of turns?

no.

Nope, he had 1 card in his hand that he didn't use, and nothing popped up to show a cards activation from the graveyard.

Can you get a list of all the cards in a "Volcanic Pyro deck" and maybe see if one of them could be the cause?

Either it's a card that was sent to the graveyard, or the game is buggy.

Aha, nice find lol. Musta been the first monster I killed. I musta missed the card animation popping up telling it was being activated, or pressed B thinking it was something else and skipped it. Haha, at least I know now what happened. Thanks :P

I'm baffled on this one. Did he have any continuous trap cards in effect like Volcanic Armor?

I suppose you can play him again and see if the same thing happens.

I havent played this ***since the first year it came out. I'd imagine it has progressed like magic the gathering where all the new sets blow the old ***out of the water.

Kinda. There's this new summoning called Synchro summon. You take a tuner and one or more non-tuner monster and combine their levels to make a monster that equals the total level.

Level 5 + level 3 = 8; so can summon a level 8 monster.

They have pretty strong effects and lots of support cards that make keeping your monsters on the field a lot easier. It's pretty fun if you give it a shot!

I haven't played the Wii one, I'm currently playing the 2010 DS one.
It's pretty fun stuff.
Wish they had some DS games for Magic though.

I typically run a stall/beatdown deck.

I'll take your word for it Mizu. I'm in my mid 20s now. I'm not going to go play Yugioh with kids in my area. I'm not a fan of being the creepy old guy.

Now actually playing the Cards directly with kids would be a bit creepy, I agree with you on that lol.

Every now and then, I'm on "kid duty". This includes me being the student while my niece teaches me. I'm required to watch Dora and Disney on all TV's in the house.

I'd play Yugioh with her if she knew how to play or was into that sort of thing. If that makes me the creepy 34 year old lady then sign me up LOL.

The funny thing is this ***is a lot more complicated than I'd imagine most children would even be able to work with lol.
Guess it's a kids game...but definitely not for most U.S. kids lol.
I find it to be liken to chess(and CHACKERS) at least strategy-wise and that's probably my reasoning as to why I like games like that lol.
