I didn't count Vermillion Cloak because it's a cloak and head pieces for SMN are like totally vital, and I didn't count Ixion cloak because not only is it a cloak, it's also a waste for SMN or any job that can use it really.
I named three pieces that are actually useful for SMN.

I'm assuming head pieces are "vital" for the af horn? I'm no smn, not yet anyway.
But still, that leaves 3 other options, and discounting pieces of gear based on them "being cloaks", even if smn should be using head gear, is quite silly while your arguement was looking at refresh as opposed to functionality.

"Vital" = 50 MP and Resist Silence.
I mentioned three different items that are usable and worthwhile for SMN. SMN should not use anything other than those three fulltime.

You know what really grinds my gears?
PUP. PUP grinds my gears. Especially when it's a PUP who's like "Ohh I can WS for 1k damage I'm awesome". All PUP is good for is looking like a frickin' idiot and making everyone else look better.

Don't forget Kae....whatever you spell it. The ZNM SMN headpiece that gives -2 perp cost to Garuda + Attack/Defense Bonus. Karura Hachigame.... yeah....that

Gathering Zeni points is pretty annoying. It's always annoyed me but tonight's just broke the camel's back... "Sanraku's current infatuation is with the Beastmen family, particularly the Poroggo".

Granted you won't get the 99 per that they give when they are the rec mob, but they still give around 60 which isn't too terrible.

Hello. Nice to meet you all. This is my first time posting here let alone make a full fledged post in a forum such as this.
What grinds my gears? Everything. Just kidding :-P!. Not everything; mostly drama, from trival to endgame. I've been involved in endgame activities for about a year; Dynamis, Sky, you name it. Yes, I've had some fun with 3 of the ls i was with (1 did dynamis, other sky/hnm,etc, third was CoP static) but over time I've grown a distain for some of them due to trival matters and the fact that people forget that real life obligations comes first before the game. I value and understand the clause of the game when I log on every time; Don't forget your school, work, friends and family.
I did leave some of these linkshells because of these facts, from mitigating circumstances with event times to my questioning of attendance because of real life obligations. I could never understand-and still don't understand-why the majority of people don't use the means and devices that the game uses. For example, if a particular individual in an ls is bugging you or you dislike them, use the black list feature. To me, its really not hard to solve such simple and trivial problems yet many people want to escalate it into something bigger.
If I want to experience drama I'll watch the lifetime channel, really. Its not worth it in my opinion because you're missing out on the fun of an LS if, say, only a couple of people get under your skin and you decide to quit the ls because of drama with them whereas u can blacklist them easily. True, its understandable if it were officers and ls leader but if its just other members no need to quit or drag an ls into the matter between you and said person. This game has been out for about 7 years now. I would've thought a level of civility would evolve much better over that time. I'm sure it has with sucessful groups and maybe I've been in the wrong crowds, who knows. I'm new to MMOs, this being my first one but at the same time, you would think with people out there would be more adultlike. I feel I'm in error with the concept nowadays and cannot put my finger around the dramatic nonsense. And while, yes, I have to deal with this like a lot of people do I try to give people the rationalization that problems can be solved by talking it out. But, I guess at the end of the day the end resulting solution is what makes and breaks things.
Maybe I'm wrong in this maybe I'm right, who knows.
Your thoughts? Discuss.
-Rusty.

What grinds my gears are people who act like they know everything and have to give overly biased input on every single thing just because they visit wiki or read BG forums.

Bartimaeus said: Sometimes XI can seem rather lacking in civility, but I find it to be really all relative. XI has it's bad moments, but I find less of those in game than the multibajillion MMOs I've played.
Not that we should just accept people acting like idiots, escalating things beyond need, or just grabbing attention in their own way for the own personal amusement, damned-be the consequences of who they hurt.
You're right. What keeps me logging on and playing this game is that I gotta keep on going and enjoy the game with people who want give a positive experience. Sure, I don't expect a perfect word, no. Nowadays i just put my two gil in with people that either I'm having a problem with or each other and move on rather than muddle or dwell on it.

Quote: What grinds your gears? When you're punching away on Fortifications and the Yagudo Theomilitary decide to send their finest Yagudo right on top of you, giving you approximately one second to move to a "Raise savvy" position, which is obviously not enough time. The subsequent ten to thirty minute wait in a cluster of feathered *** waiting for the NPC's, Soloers and/or Freelancers to clear the area around you of baddies grinds my gears too. On the same subject, it grinds my gears when you're harmlessly fighting a monster and somebody runs towards you with a train of six on their *** thinking you're going to turn into [GM]{Your Name Here} and one shot them all, saving their life, and thinking it'll end with happy little rabbits prancing around and smiles and joy for everyone... We can't do anything about it! You're going to die! Why bring everyone else down with you! /sigh. PS. Sorry Bart. I guess I just can't help myself, but since you put it like that, I'll stop, since I know I can :) I'm glad you put your old avatar back by the way. This place just wasn't the same without "WUH!!!" on every page.

Another thing that grinds my gears is that Mission NMs can aggro you if the person fighting them dies. . .I accidently killed a WAR75(he was afk while about 75% of his HP was depleted, I'm sorry><). and then a group was fighting a NM and it aggrod me after he died and I nearly died(*** yeah SAM/DNC w/Soboro saved my life!!!)
Also SE "claims" they fixed the "cure-bound" ***, but to be honest, I think they just enhanced it. . .It seems to go off more often nowadays. . .those *** should have just left it how it was, I never really noticed it as bad as it used to be. . .

When you're in Campaign tanking a mob with half a dozen or more RDM/WHM/etc around you, you're almost dead, and nobody's curing. Then the minute you die they all start to cast raise on you. Come on people, I'm pretty sure you'd get more exp curing repeatedly than casting a single raise. (And no, I'm not talking about the Campaign NPCs either :P)

Thank you Dianne.
You know what really grinds my gears? All those horny teenagers who think because my character is a girl I appreciate being singled out for their sexual fantasies. What is this? You and your little 1 inch Taru stick and your bad manners and your teenage horniness and your big magic pool.
I mean, I mean come ON! How stupid do you have to be to not think I might NOT be a girl? Yeah, that's right, YOU! You just told a GUY you wanted to get naked with him, you horny little teenager, typing on your keyboard and thinking you're all cool and you're gonna get some and I'm all into you and... stuff! Don't you have something better to do, oh I don't know, like maybe getting a LIFE?!
Well you'd better check your glasses John Travolta, because I'm a GUY! Yeah, yeah that's right! Now go back and tell all your horny teenage friends from Saturday Night Fever who you shared your sexual fantasies with. See what they think of you. Go on, get out of here. Not so hot now are you? Jackasses.
And that's what really grinds my gears. Back to you Dianne.

Also, pretty sure a mithra on Odin called Mrbooboo used to get hit on... Just think about that a sec...

Now, if you are talking about campaign battles....tough for the DNC, s/he can always cancel the Rolling Thunder.

You should have realized the disclaimer that comes with making a female character regardless of your gender. You chose to play it, therefore you have to deal with the consequences.
Well, what grinds your gears? :P (Go go Family Guy reference!)
