Trying To Work Out A New Asuran Fists Set

Ok let's see how this goes. Here is my current set:



Giving me the essential stats:

Accuracy: +51
STR: +35 (w/ Taipan Fangs +2 Fire)
Attack: +68
VIT: +21
Also h2h and STR merits capped.

I land all my hits the great majority of the time, and I feel like I am starting to overdo the accuracy side of things at the cost of STR. My problem is that I don't really know where to improve. It seems as if my choices end up being things like "lose 10acc, get 3 STR," and that just seems not all that hot.

My ideas are:

- WS gorget
- Tantra Gaiters +1 (Having horrible luck with base piece, got all 8 seals.) or really anything in foot slot would be good, just don't know what.
- An earring to replace Merman's, but I don't know what.
- A STR+6 or 7 ring to use in place of Rajas... but... Rajas not supposed to come off...

And I've had a lot of bad luck checking out item sets people have here- the world is changing faster than them. Any ideas?

Use ascetic's fury.

For inside outside of abyssea, I'd make little adjustment to that set. Inside, even though asuran shouldn't be used there, I'd make a lot of adjustments.

Well, IF you're going to be using asuran in abyssea, remember 10% vit 10% str is shitty. I'd probably stack on as much attack as I can, because when your fstr caps from atma and cruor buffs, that str isn't doing ***for you

which are better for asuran usu legs or hachiryu? str5 attk10 vs. str10 attk5.

I imagine it would be inside abyssea usu, outside abyssea hachiryu?

There is no "inside Abyssea" for Asuran. Outside, depends on how much STR/VIT you have elsewhere.

I would agree Night, but OP doesn't have ascetics. However, he should get ascetics before obtaining either usu or hachiryu so I guess it's a moot question.

Acually, Hachiryu would be 12.5 att 10 STR vs Usukane 13.75 ATT and 5 STR, Hachiryu wins in every way

We're talking mnk so single hand weapon. 2str= 1 attack or did they change that since I last played?

hachi: 10 attack 10 str
usu: 12.5 attack 5 str

Precisely my point. If you have either piece but not Ascetic's, I'd really hope you dinged 75+ yesterday.

Usu: 12.5 attack 0.5 WSC 1.25 fSTR
Hachiryu: 10 attack 1 WSC 2.5 fSTR

If fSTR is capped and neither or both add to WSC (alpha), Usukane would be superior. Otherwise yes, Hachiryu wins.

Just wondering, Since the OP doesn't have Ascetics Fury, would Tornado Kick be a better alternative to use in place of Asuran?

Tornado Kick means Footwork, which means building an OA3 weapon. If that's not in place already, it's time spent not getting Ascetic's or other things that will be useful in the future. OA3's aren't exactly a small time investment given the number of mobs you have to plow through.

But, I switch back and forth between the two if I am bored or w/e, although without the feet base piece and the OAT2-4 (or 3) weapon, I still am do more with Asuran. Don't exactly remember my setup for that though.

I would use Shura Togi over K Osode for Asuran, the +20 attack will prolly be more noticable damage wise than the 10 STR/VIT due to the 10% mod

Since you're already working for ascetics Terminus, what kind of build can you put together for it?

Don't have one, but still, if I find my way to one I will give it a shot.


Good question. I honestly haven't thought about it yet. But it's STR/VIT as well, so... wouldn't I just transfer much of it over over, but drop some acc in favor of STR or failing that, attack?

If you dont have ascetics fury, Use backhand blow with full str build. Will outdo Asurans. Well if you have razed ruins of course.

And no im not joking. My wife doesnt have ascetics and her BHB's do 1k-2.5 easily.

Ascetic's fury is 1.0 ftp 50% str 50% vit and Backhand blow is 30% str 30% dex

What neck would be good for Ascetic's?

Flame Gorget, Faith Torque, or something with STR/VIT mod Justice/Fortitude?

I'll post here since OP's question seems to have been answered and I have a similar question.

I still need to climb Nyzul and I'm planning (hoping) to start on collecting coins for Smite. Until I do that, I'm trying to get the best results from my Asuran Fists.

I full-time RR/VV (Q Q @ no 3rd atma). I also tend to do a lot of things outside Abyssea (climbing Nyzul, planning to join a Salvage LS afterwards). With that in mind, here's pretty much the gear I managed to come up with alone (or by /shouting a lot):

Asuran Fists:


5/5 STR, 8/8 H2H merits. The fists are DMG+2 (going to work on Revenant or Flame +2's at the very least).

Stats are:
STR+14
ATT+80
ACC+51

My question is, when do I start stacking STR? And in which areas would I have the best trade-offs? Assuming Pizza, can I trade some accuracy for more attack or STR, or should I continue stacking as I am?

Honestly, I fast-tracked MNK through Abyssea and began to take it serious after capping vital skills/merits for it, so I haven't had a lot of time to gather gear yet. Though any suggestions are very welcome as I'd really like to make my MNK the powerhouse that most of yours are. Thanks in advance!

Getting an Anwig Salade would be a good move, but other than that it looks good enough until ascetics or smite.
