On Tuesday night I accidentally slipped on water while unloading a dishwasher and put a broken glass tumbler through my left wrist. Thanks to the decisive actions of my housemates I made it to the hospital before I passed out from blood loss. I spent the next day being pumped full of Magnesium, Protein and Calcium (all of which I lost from the sheer amount of blood loss, I was told it must have been just shy of 2 liters) in preparation for surgery.

After the surgery I was told that my Ulnar Artery was completely lost and that many of my nerves and tendons had been heavily damaged but they could mend after a long period of rehabilitation. Basically my left hand (my dominant hand) is severely damaged and won't ever be quite the same but it should recover in time.

Had I been alone or not gotten appropriate care in time this story could have had a much worse outcome. Time to learn to use my right hand as my new dominant!
