The new Xbox 360 still has a proprietary hard drive. It seems they're still not ready to give it up. ***.

I'm still annoyed that my HDD bit the dust and fails to run many of my games (at least up to a certain point before it freezes/crashes/glitches like mad). I rather not dish out over $100 for a mediocre hard drive that only has like 250 GB when I can buy over a terrabyte drive for the same price.
I wonder if anyone has figured out how to reassemble and format conventional hard drives to work within Microsoft's HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE xbox HDD structure?

At least Sony gave us the option of putting in our own hard drives and formatting it for use. That's one thing I give sony big props for. I hate all this proprietary hardware that has to be done through their own brand and therefore costs a fortune cause they can get away with it, for mediocre quality.

I'll stick with my PS3 that I can switch out the hard drives at will, rather then have to buy into more and more *** because you can't seem to understand you will make more money by giving people a little freedom.

I've got a third-party 250GB drive in my xbox right now. Cost me about $40. There is software out there to format laptop sized (2.5in) drives for use in a 360.
Is it gonna take off and fly to space? This thing is fugly lol.

first off who the hell plays there 360 standing up??? i personally dont like to ring my disks. secondly if you swap the hdd in a 360 and microsoft finds out your system will be ban'd from live. and lastly gdiwtfihatemy360, i will never buy a microsoft gaming console ever again.
edit: that new hdd looks like it might be ssd, so good luck swaping out a bigger/cheaper one

The PS3 is pretty much one giant gimmick.
for me 360 > PS3 any day.

For the past 4+ years I've never had a disk issue, but whatever.

I personally dislike the ps3, and love my 360....
All systems have their issues, like my ps3...it collects dust, while my 360 sometimes freezes in heavily populated campaign battles~
I dislike Halo, but I still prefer the game selection on the 360.
I don't play console FPS', Racing games or Street fighter esque fighting games, so the PS3 is useless for me.
the 360 is mostly useless, but I prefer the RPG selection.
Wii has some fun games like smash bros and Zelda, but meh on everything else.
None of these get close to PC gaming anyway.

i watched a brand new copy of modern warfare 2 shatter in a 360 that was upright in like 5min. i ringed one game right after i got my 360 and stopd with the upright deal. also i have a friend who owns a game store, he buffs more 360 disks than anything and its always the same deal. him you play with your 360 standing up?? consumer yes always
