THF Daggers
Back to the Main Guide
Ah, Mandau has finally returned to glory. I could sing the praises of the Mandau all night long, but I'd run out of words and I actually can't sing, so you should look here instead! What that link does not tell you are a couple caveats about the poison proc, namely that it makes it difficult to sleep things you're attacking, and if you ever go to VW it will prevent mages from proc'ing Poison. Only useful as a mainhand, and only useful if you upgrade it to ilvl 119. The Izhiikoh is by far the best dagger you can get if you don't have an ilvl 119 R/M/E. If you can get it, great! This drops off the Delve mega-boss in Foret, so you're going to need a seriously geared endgame LS to get it. If you have the ilvl 119 R/M/E, use this as your offhand; otherwise mainhand this and offhand the eminent dagger. Absurdly easy to obtain with 7000 Records of Eminence sparks, and an excellent dagger all around. The best offhand if you don't have R/M/E. The latent effect is like our old friend blau dolch - active under 100% TP or when weaponskilling, and it works offhand. The best mainhand as well if you don't have Delve access. This should be your first priority when you're 99 if you don't have one. Heck, you don't even need to do any Adoulin content for this one. Twashtar! A 99 Twashtar used to be the best offhand for your 99 Mandau, but even at ilvl 119 Izhiikoh makes for a better offhand than your Twashtar, and you don't need this dagger to use Rudra's Storm anymore. If you've got a 99 or 119 lying around (upgrading to 119 is pretty darn cheap at the moment), sure, mainhand it. Otherwise, your time is better spent getting Izhiikoh and a 119 Mandau. When our mythic came out at level 75, it was immediately declared garbage, and we moved on. But what about now? It comes with a really big SA/TA boost (how big? I've heard 25-30%, but no one has one to test) that apparently only works while mainhanding, and it has a big boost to Mandalic Stab, a weaponskill that otherwise no one would ever use. Theoretically, with a 99 Vajra you could outdamage a 99 Mandau against very tough monsters, and it's plausible that the theory extends to 119. But that theory requires maintaining AM3, which for practically all content is unreasonable. Also, you lose all the special abilities if you offhand it, so no luck there. With all these problems and the incredibly tough requirements to get, I cannot recommend this dagger. Aphotic Kukri can be obtained off the Delve NM Nerrivik, or assuming you've killed that NM (or its partner in crime) Krabakarpo you can buy one for 30k plasm. Best when upgraded with the STR path up to rank 15, which will cost you 3 Airlixirs +2 or 300K plasm. If you don't have the Izhiikoh or R/M/E, you'll want to mainhand this. The Atoyac is a drop off the Foret WKR, and is an excellent mainhand or offhand. However, I wouldn't bother farming for one (or using a guaranteed WKR drop to get one) if you have an Izhiikoh or better, since Eminent Dagger makes for a better offhand, unless you want it to cap your dDEX against something like Tojil. The +1 version of the Skirmish dagger. You need a NQ leisilonu, a key item from the Yorcia Skirmish, and some bayld to get this, then you use stones to augment it. With good skirmish augments, it can be comparable to an Aphotic, but the time and expense needed for good augments is better spent elsewhere. Certainly a good bridge weapon until you can get better. Buyable from the Peacekeeper's Coalition for 30k bayld. Eminent Dagger main / Camaraderie Dagger offhand should be your minimum standard if you care about your THF. The *only* AH-buyable dagger with ilvl 100+. On par with a Camaraderie Dagger. If you're THF/DNC all the time and you don't have access to Leisilonu +1 or better for your offhand, it's worth considering. A super cheap AH knife that will somehow last you forever. The haste proc is quite useful solo - you swap it out for a higher DPS dagger while the haste effect is up and you are low on TP. Also great for survivability because of the increased TP gain. I Wouldn't fulltime it offhand to ilvl 100+ options, but it's worth keeping around for the haste proc. Not for DD'ing :) I talked about this before, but this is an acceptable weapon only when your damage doesn't matter, and your job is merely to get TH as high as possible. You should have one though!
