FFXIAH.com Nodes

FFXIAH.com nodes are much like wiki pages except they use the same BBCode parser our Forum and Mbox utilize. Nodes can be used as stand alone pages for things such as guides or lists. They will be designed to be embedded on our forum, private message system, and even third party websites. A key feature is collaboration which will allow you to let other users maintain a node. For example, if you have a guide you would like to post on the forum, you can allow others to edit it. It also has a higher character limit so no need to reserve extra posts in a forum. When embedded, it's dynamically loaded with the latest version when the page loads.

Management

The homepage for node management is http://www.ffxiah.com/node. It will list your nodes, drafts, and nodes that are shared with you.

Drafts

Every time you create a new node or update an existing node a draft is created. Here you can preview your page, save the draft for a later date, or publish when you are done. You can enter a comment to briefly describe what you did. The drafts will auto-save as well.

Permissions

Each node will have global permissions that is set by the creator. By default, only the owner can edit the node, but everyone can see it. You can all make it so no one can see or edit it (otherwise known as private). You can also add collaborators in the sharing section. Note: You currently cannot black list users.

History

Node history is much like Wikipedia's history. You can compare revisions and rollback to an older version if needed.

Embedding

Simply type the follow to embed a node where $id will be the node identifier. The sharing page will have the BBCode snippet for easy copy/paste.


It is possible to embed nodes inside another node, although it will only render one level down. This is still being tested.

Beta

This is still being ironed out so expect some bugs. Any bugs can be reported in the bugs forum.
