If you're looking at a tough and long battle as PLD (soloing), this is the weapon to go. Nothing beats Spirit Taker in a long battle, and the damage output is comparable to the better swords at 75. If you're fighting skeletons or pots, you will even out damage most any sword with this.
Can't really compare it to Claustrum though, as the jobs that can use the respective weapons completely exclude each other. But if you're looking at stats only, this beats even the relic staff. Not to mention that PLD has a better staff skill rating than BLM and SMN.
Use this and /NIN, where you don't have to worry about keeping hate, and you'll be able to solo most T and VT mobs.
