So you're the proud owner of a "Wyrmal Abjuration: Legs." Congratulations. Now it's time to decide how best to put this shiny, rare new abjuration to use.
On the one hand, yes, it IS a very rare abjuration (how many people have gone 20 Kirins or more without seeing one drop?), so if you have serious White Border Syndrome, get it right the first time and buy the HQ Cuisses and don't waste someone else's chance at +12% movement when you feel the need to "correct your mistake."
On the other hand, if your time and money have any value to you, you're gaining a whole 1 DEF, 2 HP, 2 MP, and +1 fire/lightning/water/dark resist over the NQ - at a price of probably 1m or more over the cost of the NQ, depending on your server. Think about that a little.
Of course, if you need to increase your feeling of online superiority over your fellow geeks, or your name is Rukenshin, you just can't top the White Box.
I have the NQ version and how stupid this might even sound, I wished I had bought the cursed cuisses -1. I really don't know what I was thinking that day... the -1 are really affordable nowadays and although they don't mean much difference in stats, I started to regret that I didn't get the blood version...
Don't forget that the wyrmal legs are not easy to obtain in the first place, so don't make the same mistake as I did and get the cuisses -1 instead. :'(
I've been doing sky for going on 2 years now. Shortly after joining my first sky shell I started saving for these. Eventually I was first in line with points and could bid. I went 0/3.
Unfortunately, I had cancer treatment which caused me to lose my first place bid for almost 6 months (Since Kirin NEVER drops these for us). As of a week ago, I'm first in line again and have gone 0/2.
When they finally drop, I'm going to get the HQ ones.
At least a solid year of trying to get these, I know I'll NEVER get another pair. And 1 year, even 2 years down the line when I've collected ALL my other COR gear: I don't want to regret having the NQ.
So if you're stuck thinking about it, I encourage you to consider it. Be aware they have NO ADDED VALUE over the NQ. But they are rare. If if you're not a guy who collects 75 jobs and just one who likes to one day have the best looking gear for the few jobs you have: then these are for you.
I've always seen the better augments on the Blood cuisses btw, same with other +1 abj gear, they just seem to be more apt to get better augments so fa as I've seen.
@Koryuu: some people who have them made them.
@Darkvision: People who out perform HQ holders usually have other things going for them. (Out perform for me = they do the same thing, but one is putting out better results.)
Its not always about white border either, but I know if I can get them, I will get them, because 1 DEF, 2 HP, 2 MP, and +1 resist might just leave me with 1 HP on a bad attack vs face first in some swamp while everyone else fights on.
In my eyes i would get the HQ, and on Koryuu's note ppl that get the HQ are not idiot's. Come on its not hard to make gil if your in a sky shell and get em you have a 75 or 2 and know how to make your gil
if you have any friends with alchemy id recommend having them craft this for you, on most servers its hardly any loss on NQ, especially if you have a bonecrafting friend who can make the dragon cuisses for you.. its a lot of running around but its worth it to get these practically for free.
The fact that it's almost impossible to *not* have something you can put a million gil elsewhere to (be it some other gear upgrade, salvage, relic, etc.) makes these indeed a fairly bad investment since their only purpose is movement speed and occasionally resists.
