We all know half the people who read that post want their benefits right now. Gives them another reason to say Dems spend money they don't have while the GOP sponsors a PayGo bill just to kill it off and blame Dems. =D

One sided voting is blind. Only ignorants vote 1 way, it defeats the purpose of a 2 party system if you always vote one sided.

You can't deny that it is a possibility that private insurers will all fold if they can't compete with government mandated health care, leaving the government option a monopoly.

Only time will tell if this will happen though but it's definitely not an impossibility.

Maybe that mandated word is what has many people thinking this, never once has it been mandated that you carry coverage through a private insurer aside from auto insurance.

It does in a way appear as a complete legislative takeover of the industry, especially with the pay rate mandates to be placed on doctors.

Cool I hope the less fortunate get to enjoy it. Something closer to the Canadian health system that I do enjoy, and have had need of several times.

Yes you may not get all the benefits that you pay for with your tax money! You know, this isn't exactly new information right?

Factual history:

>All government programs have the curious tendency to appeal to the politically correct in the assigned title; with the title generally having very little to do with the WOT small print within those bills/laws.

Feel good about this if you want, the end result will be loads of fraud, SIGNIFICANT TAX INCREASES FOR WORKING PEOPLE at the 5 year plus mark; and long lines for limited medical resources.

Think about this: what percentage of government workers/bureaucrats/administrators feel an obligation to do the best they can for the public, have a willingness to work long hours at govt pay just so you Joe Public can get the special consideration of your circumstances? Honestly think about this and give an answer: 10%? 40%? 80%?

How many medical professionals do you really think will stay in the business with 90%+ of all medical procedures and medications limited to govt mandated expense caps?
Do you really think most medical professionals are in the business simply to help people? (reality check guys)

But then again, I guess for some people the U.S. owes them a living and health benefits just because they live in the U.S.... even if someone else has to pay for it while they stay at home ~

I know this - once the next congress and president are in place (Obama being 1 term and major change over this fall for congress)... whatever passes in the end will be gutted.

Meanwhile, back in reality.

I dunno, from what i've been reading about this, you'll be fined for not having insurance and if your employer isn't aware if you do or do not have insurance and you do not have it, they will be fined also. 750$ for individual and 2250$ for a family. Doctor's will be givin a 10% bonus for 'keeping American's healthy'. yeah that's right, it's not for just the sick ppl. And I'm pretty sure I also read that states will be in charge of their own.

I predict that this wonderful healthcare will be something a little like this:

Going to see your doctor will be just like going to the goddamn DMV and it will cost you alot of money to put up with their long lines and rude desk workers...

Once you finally make it to the front of the hour long line to get new plates or see your doctor, you are greeted by some hellish looking old hag who is far from polite, after reaching the desk, the whole process takes like 2 minutes and you wonder wtf all the wait was for, and leave so pissed off that you want to down a gallon of whiskey.

If this is for an urgent health care, you might die in the line waiting, but thats ok, the government will decide if you die under their plan anyway and if you can't make it to the front of the line then it was your time to go.

Just like the DMV it will be.

Yeah since all health care professionals are going to be government workers now ...

might as well be with the government regulating their pay, the next step would logically be to make them government employees.

So some might say with arguments made of hay.
