However, to be serious about what you asked. My wife and I make 105K a year. With student loans, vehicles, and all of our other expenses, if I got sick we'd be in serious trouble. The insurance companies got you by the nutts and they know it.

Even with his insurance my BF and I were in trouble for a few months after he crashed his bike and fractured 3 ribs last year.

I'm self employed and make enough money for the smaller expenses but between him being out of work for 2 months, the crazy high medical bills, his bike payments, car insurance (we both have mustangs and live in NJ so ours is pretty bad)rent, pet food, ect we were really hurting for a while there.

I'm more for going after the insurance companies( i know that's part of the bill) and lawyers ( not sure if this is in the bill) who contributed to this mess than making people pay fines who are barely scraping by as it is. For some people a $750 fine is still a lot of money. I know it still is for me. There has to be a better way that that.

I kinda see what you're saying but it's wrong, we already pay taxes to the government, essentially for protection.

In a situation like this, the government kind of owes it to citizens to intervene and help them.

Where as someone who is too lazy to work and obtain their own health care (which isn't *** hard, you can even get decent health care working at a restaurant with no education) ... is an entirely different story, the tax payers don't owe them ***, neither should our government.

IMO something as vital as health care shouldn't be something that is capitalized upon. Otherwise this would basically determine who gets to live and who gets to die based on whether you can fork enough dough or not for corporations.

I'm glad we have this change. People deserve to have something as simple and vital as health care as long as they're a legitimate citizen.

U will be forced to have health insurance via the government option if you don't already carry coverage, and if you don't carry coverage you will pay a higher tax % at the end of the year, all in all a pretty sweet deal, unless you have a brain.
