If people try to blink me out, i will keep on checking them
Or you could use windower and the blinkmenot plugin, and never have to deal with that, or targets disappearing in PT/animations stopping mid WS gear switch, etc etc. Great for healers.

No I'm serious, it's 2010. If I wanted to deal with that ***I'd cut off my balls and play on PS2.
:/ BMN crashes when I do anything.

Same. Don't really understand people blinking everytime you do.

I've had a dude constantly blinking for an entire boat trip to whitegate cause I just wanted to see his bazaar...

which had stuff in it for sale at the going price...

I tend to do it most when I'm running somewhere.
Everyone who happens to run by me is sure to get checked.

I've noticed the frequency I get checked seems to heavily depend on what job I am on. My Cor seems to never get checked, my Drk is quite a lot more, and my Pld gets check raped every time I'm on it. I don't even understand why. My gear isn't all that special.

My only guess is curiosity over the augments I got on my Nuevo Coselete. Though any Pld with half a brain has Enmity and Fast Cast on it...

i never /check ppl unless they bazaar. it was taboo to do it in 2004, especially to japanese players. And since they were all in AF and us noob NAs were questing SJ items it happened alot. sounds like a a dumb reason for me to still feel that way, but oh well. i dont freak out when i get checked

I check people a lot just because as a noob i got in the habit of checking mobs even if I know they're Too Weak. Idk...
I check people to see if they are brave enough to augment stuff.
I check people to see what their wearing.
I check people to read bazaar comments.
I check people on accident.
I check people on accident.
Seriously, I always accidentally check people.

I check Impossible to Gauge mobs mid fight out of habit. I check mobs while I'm running by even if I'm 75 in West Ron. Idk... idm being checked if I did I'd just put a filter up anyway.
hehe me too

I don't care about getting checked, I was just making an observation that it seems to happen on some jobs more than others. I check people all the time. From what I have seen the only people that have ever freaked out at me were JP players. They almost always spam gear swap macros and shake their heads or do angry emotes at me when I check them. I don't understand the problem. It's a damn video game, no need to act like I'm going through your underwear drawer.

I check people, I get check, IDK either way. I understand the historic reasoning behind the issues surrounding being checked.

But at the end of the day it is a little line of blue text, it can't hurt you.

One thing I have never understood is, why do I need to check someone so see their bazaar? surely /d or something could go straight to it?

I have a macro.

/em poses for <t>

Honestly, I hate being checked, but that's during events. Example: New LS Member checking me repeatedly during an Omega pop. I did turn on the filter though.

Otherwise, Im proud of my shell and the gear they helped me get so if someone is checking your gear high five them^^

One time about 2 years ago i checked a JP guy named Draconum, i started getting tells from him saying "Hooker" "Hooker" "***" Hooker ***" then he started spamming me in JP. :( Guess people insulted him in english and he learned to use those 2 words lol

I always do this, better then just telling them to *** off lol, usually always leads to chatting with them lol.

In fact I just checked twice and I /blush.

Being checked doesn't bother me at all to be honest, I think the only reason JP don't like it is it is something of a disrespect for them or something.

After saying that, I know I always check EVERYONE lol, doesn't matter if they have a bazaar or not, it's just a habit I have, I mostly just want to see what gear sets they have, and if I see a particular one that I do like for a job that I might level in the near future I will either take a screenshot for reference, or make a item set for it so I can review it later and maybe make a few changes.

I don't check pt members I merit or exp with but in Whitegate or other areas I tend to check pretty much anyone with a bazaar, job I have (checking gear) or if I can't figure out what piece of equipment someone is wearing. Augments are always fun to find as well.

How to tell who is a JP or JP wanna-be.

Go into the middle of the square in WG or the AH

Type /em examines you

See how blinks/does and angry emote/sends you a tell etc.

For future reference, if you want to see what her gear is actually like, use /c name. Blinking won't help her.

If you'd type /em examines you the JPs would know it's fake because it wouldn't translate to their language.

The way I see it with the people getting annoyed with the /c would be the "Invasion of privacy" thing.
I used to be annoyed at first whenever someone checked me.

But I guess you can't stop them, so I didn't care anymore and "meh"ed away.

During pts and events, I can understand, but there are times when I was just helping out a friend, and the only thing in my inventory are my af and my fishing gear on me... now that's just embarrassing...

True, change the first line to:

"How to tell who is a JP style view on being checked"

I notice that when I'm running around on drk or sch, lots of people check me. When I'm on other jobs, barely anyone checks me. It's odd O.o
