Does FFXI Work On New PS3's 2010.

I was just wondering if FFXI works on any of the new PS3 slims, and what kind of drive. Please help i want to get the one PS3 this weekend.

I don't think the new PS3 slims have backwards compatibility so I am of the mind that it won't work. FFXI is a PS2 game if you're wondering why I brought that up.

No, it won't work. The last PS3 hardware that was compatible with PS2 games was the 80GB model that was bundled with Metal Gear Solid 4, and that was in 2008.

If you want to play FFXI on PS3, you may want to check ebay cause it's pretty much the only way you'll find a backward compatible one now. If you do, remember that all the 20GB and 60GB models are, and some of the 80GB ones(not all, so be careful). Good luck!

I played FFXI on the PS3 80GB, the graphic is suck cuz PS3 using emulator and making a portion of hard drive into ps2 format...I'm ended up played on Xbox360 and now on my laptop LOL

You could always try downloading the PS2 System Data from the Disc-based Add-ons section of the PSN. It allows games that require installation on the PS2's HDD to be played. Haven't tried to use it on the new slim PS3's, but hey, there has to be a reason it's still in the store.

Edit: After doing some snooping, downloading the PS2 System Data should allow you to install and run FFXI.
