Video game music you can't get sick of! (one per post)
Changed the music in Nyzul Isle and Salvage to this for those Mythic farms:

A more breathtaking rendition of Guardia Castle I have never heard.
YouTube Video Placeholder YouTube Video Placeholder I can't praise this song enough. It perfectly captures the essence of the character(s) it was made for. Kindred are sort of Yin and Yang: opposites, yet uniform. Lamb is gentle and precise, Wolf is brutal and wild, and together they act as the gods of death. Their theme combines a dueling piano and violin- two conflicting instruments blended beautifully to create a musical scene. The scene itself portrays their lore, where Lamb (the piano) offers a gentle death to those who graciously accept. But when they inevitably try to thrash and flee, Wolf (the violin) lunges and chases. It's so good~~~~ I don't know anything about that game but that is a wonderful piece. I believe you're hearing cello.
I haven't played this game (original or remake) but I can't stop listening to these two tracks from NieR Replicant: Spoilers because gameplay footage. NieR has some really good music. Not sure I'd ever play the game though - doesn't look like my thing. This is one of the best town songs I've ever heard in an rpg. The Iris series truly has some amazing works of art.

I sort of like this song a lot. Apparently it follows Lao Tzi idea that if a society praises the virtuous and loyal non-stop then the whole society must be corrupt and disloyal so they have to fake it. Therefore, only when the country is on it's knees and all the disloyal rats have fled that the true loyal patriot would step forward.

I really, really didn't like the expansion this song is from. I don't even like how they used this song in the game. But on its own, Yuriko's theme stands out.

YouTube Video Placeholder Ok, this thread is seriously in need of some Disagea love. The game has some of the most amazing music tracks of the playstation 2 JRPG era. Tenpei Sato makes the series absolutely sing. My personal favorite two are Witch Hunting and Running fire, but there are so many others worth mentioning it's not funny.

Been a little while but I just saw this, and you posting that song totally makes me want to pick Octopath back up really soon ;) Really good stuff! YouTube Video Placeholder Let's fight, like gentlemen. It has been 22 years, and still sounds so good. And I'll give ya more Street Fighter music perfection, with something a bit more current from SFV.

It might be my favourite ever. It just hits all the right beats for me. Good news. This game has multiple battle themes (and not just the random encounter, boss battles, and final boss themes like some games). The random battle songs change up as you begin to travel out farther (further?) 2: YouTube Video Placeholder 3: YouTube Video Placeholder Also, each character has their own theme and samples from them get used at the endgame which is a friggin' lovely call-back. I won't list them all, because one song per post and I already broke that rule. Heck the rules. I do what I want. If you can play this, I highly suggest the PC version and use a trainer program to allow 1-hit kills of enemies and like unlimited money, etc. This game has a terrible "break" system where you have to hit an enemy with a weakness to basically stagger it so the next hits do better damage. It's not THE WORST system, but it makes the game take longer than it should. I'm well-versed enough in RPGs that I shouldn't have to sit there and hit things multiple times with my god-tier characters against level 1 rabbits (exageration... but not entirely). I can see how I could do that sort of grind when I was a child, but "ain't nobody got time fo' dat". Even if you have to play out legit with battles taking longer, it's a very pretty game. This post turned into a "random thoughts about Octopath". Mah bad. |
