think they might do like phantasy star non dreamcast did
they had version 1 and version 2 you could upgrade your version 1 character to version 2
both versions where on the same server but version 1s could not go into version 2 rooms

PSO did it because it was still the same races/jobs (FOnewearl, RACaseal, so on and so forth)
it won't be an upgrade, it'll be a separate game like EQ and EQ2.
I'll prolly play both on and off, idk tho. They haven't even started the announced public beta yet, as far as i know. It might not be out til 2011 at this rate.

but you know ffxi takes up alot of times as it is so will be hard to do both
