i believe that you are born that way and it is probably genetic. It's just environmental how and if it ever develops, and if a person chooses to accept it or hide it.
however since i'm a teenager and everyone around me for the most part is really immature, i frequently hear things like "i turned gay" or "well i was bi for a little while, but now i'm straight." people like this are what make other people think it's a choice.
Theres actually scientific evidence, such as the previous mention of homosexuality in the animal world. There have also been studies done that show similarities between the sizes of certain sections of the brain in gay men and straight women/straight men and gay women.
and also, *** THE BIBLE. no lmao, jk, don't want to offend any believers but i feel that all religion is just made up to comfort people and provide them a reason for existence. i feel there is no reason, and everything just is, and probably can't be explained. but if it can be someday, cool beans. i also believe that no religion can be proved right, OR wrong (agnosticism), and anything can happen. so i could be completely wrong :\
just wanted to get my two cents in :D

however bi people is just a state of confusion, because at the end most of them tends to be gay, more like gay people in progress of auto acceptation , i had a boyfriend that used to be bisex, now he is gay

That's not all true. I believe that Bi people are the most true humans you'll meet. They accept that they love both men and women.

Sure a lot of gay people say they are Bi before they are ready to embrace themselves, but there are also a lot of Bi people who have sex with both sexes.

ok no, this is one of the most predominant and annoying misconceptions EVER. your sexuality CANNOT CHANGE. sometimes you may have trouble figuring out what you like, or not wanting to accept what you really are, but it DOES NOT CHANGE. your orientation is your orientation whether you know it or not. I used to think i was bi, or rather, i had myself convinced i was because i did not want to accept that i was completely different from the norm, but could no longer deny that i was attracted to men. I later came to the conclusion that i am homoflexive. however, i may find out later in life that i'm just strictly dickly (for lack of a better, more fitting phrase).
also, i find that a lot of people who claim to be bi really aren't but are just straight or gay, but willing to try things with the same or opposite sex respectively. but sexuality is very complex and should not be given the definite labels that people tend to give. a large amount of the time when i tell people i'm homoflexive i get "so you're bi?" -_-;;
and also being bi is not just a "state of confusion". just because there are a large number of people who claim to be bi, but then realize they lean more to one side, doesn't mean this is the case with all bisexuals. there are many legitimate bisexuals, who like both sexes throughout their lives, without panning to either side.

sorry, lol. when i've thought a lot into something i get all essay mode xD

In my opinion, 35 is FAR too high, I am going to call Chris Hansen. (Just kidding but that IS pretty bad. :c)
I feel a four year age gap is appropriate but as I said, it is solely my opinion. :c

I completely agree with you. The "bi" people who end up gay is something that happens all the time and I'd never hold that against anyone. People need to figure out what they really like and a lot of people legitimately don't know if they are bi or not in the beginning. The only issue I take with people who are truly bi are the ones who openly admit that they will end up with a straight person out of fear of being ostracized. The implications involved with that really irritate me. Some of my closest friends in the past ended up in this category too. >:/

Its not a state of confusion, anymore than being any other sexual preference is. I love guys and girls equally and I'm not confused in the least. Now to go back and read what everyone else wrote >.>

On the other hand, it doesn't make a lot of sense to think of homosexuality as being a purely genetic phenomenon; I mean, I can't think that being gay made anyone more likely to reproduce at any point during history. Plenty of reasons that we wouldn't reproduce, of course. ;)

Actually ジム, during the Victorian Era, many gay men would usually have families to have an alibi for proceeding accusations of such a "vile action against humanity". In a way, this era was similar to the Salem Witch trials in the sense that false accusations could be pulled up without question. i.e. She's a witch! I saw her flying!; He's a homosexual! I saw him [CENSORED ;)]!

lol I'm obviously aware that homosexual individuals often seek (and have sought) heterosexual relationships - and even bear children - to hide from society. Yes, it can and does happen.

The point I'm trying to make, though, is an issue of genetics. Put simply, a given trait cannot be linked to genetic causes unless it can be shown to increase an individual's chances of reproduction. In the example of homosexuality, what reproductive advantage is there ?

Historically speaking, homosexuals have certainly borne children; they did so, however, despite their homosexuality - which would have put them at a slight disadvantage for heterosexual intercourse.

To clarify, none of this outright refutes the conception of a genetic cause for homosexuality; it merely makes it less likely. Personally, while I find the question absolutely fascinating, I don't really lean towards either side of the "Nature vs. Nurture" debate in this case. If you asked me to guess what the cause is, I'd probably say it's a little of both. :)

Ohh genetics talk. Science nerd in me... breaking forth... lol

In genetics, a gene essentially will "code" for a protein/enzyme to be formed. If there was a gay gene, it would make the gay protein which would somehow be physiologically responsible for the outward observation of gayness. It's either that or the gene is expressed during fetal development and affects how the brain develops, etc. At any rate, it's likely due to multiple factors (and/or multiple genes) since people often forget genetics alone can't possibly govern a person's whole being, especially something so personal and complex as this.

Perfectly normal.

I think girls are attractive, yet I'm not sexually interested in them. For one guy to openly admit that another guy is attractive is a pretty secure and confident thing to do. :)

A gene doesn't necessarily have to increase an organism's chance for reproduction. Ex. Skin colour! :3 .__.;
We have an array of dormant genes in our body, and, physiologically speaking, we can only speculate their functions.
(However, I have never taken a Genetics course as that is a Senior level course at my university, so I may be wrong.)
If anything, I would agree with Weasel. If your genetic code, in it's entirety, were to play a role in your homosexual classification, it would essentially be "a mix of perfect conditions". In that case, I agree with both of y'all, saying it CAN play a factor but it is not the deciding factor. :c
However, in the case of reproduction, I assume it would be unlikely that your body would "filter" out the "gay gene". Using Autism (or any major genetic disease for that matter) as an example, it isn't really considered by lovers when they are having a baby! D:
Male >> My sister has Autism. :c
Female >> GTFO! >:[
I mean, unless your a douchebag and want the epitome of "PERFECT" children! D: (For some reason, my inside voice yelled "SIEG HIEL!" haha silly Aryan onry reproduction)

Lol it was a game of truth or dare.

I bet if I brought it up now (He's my best friend), he'd slap me for remembering it.

And actually, I will be honest and say that I am open to a relationship with another guy, but there wouldn't ever be any sleeping together involved. :S
