Soda vs. Pop vs. Soft Drink vs. Soda Pop
It's soda. I'm from New Jersey, I live in PA.
No one from the northeast calls it "pop." I call it 'that fizzy crap in a can'... though my man calls it pop. NW represent D: lol
Went up north to visit family one time, my grandma asks me to get her a pop..."wtf are you talkin' about ya old bag!?"
Soda here, and always will be, except in the events I can call it a chaser as well. idk i say both..sometimes i just say drink
Yeah seriously only old people say pop...
Dew or DP
I dont use soda, or pop. When I lived in Atlanta, everything was always Coke because of the Coca-Cola company building/themepark/empire and its roots there, and some people will look at you funny if you ask for a Pepsi. The only place I could ever get a Pepsi was either Taco Bell or Quicktrip. I can't stand drinking Coca-Cola's aspartame asswater.
Orange "Soda" Nuff said.
Who likes orange soda?
(Kudos if you can name where the quote is from) Asura.Israfel said: Who likes orange soda? (Kudos if you can name where the quote is from) Coke.. any kind of soda or pop (w/e you wanna call it) is called coke around here
When I hear someone say "pop", I think of Popsicle or lollipop.
I knew someone from Detroit that said "pop". When they asked if they can have pop, I said what..? Then they'd reply "You know, soda, cola...we call it pop in Detroit." @ Dasva: I remember it from Kenan and Kel haha. Maaaan I haven't seen that show in so long :(.
*moment of silence for when Saturday morning TV was actually worth waking up for* I refer to every kind of soft drink as coke or soda.

Can't remember which one of our 5 channels played it back then though (</3 basic TV rofl) @ Daus: </highfive for teh clip!> Texas reporting
Everything is called Coke OR Just say the brand you want in the first place. Any use of soda, pop, etc is strictly prohibited Also to whoever said "tonic" earlier, my wife is from Maine and calls ***. I'll have some sodie pop with my french fried potaters.
Soft drink here in Aust.. I dont think I've ever heard anyone call soft drink soda, or pop. Just sounds silly...

lol @ SODA Soft Cola Snort Coke All Day and Cough Up Blood POP.
This is by far the second most HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE thread I've come across. The #1 winner being the "What color is Adaman Hauberk" "Blurple!" Anyway, a soda is a soda. Call it anything else and you're from the boonies. Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_drink read this, it's a lot more relevant and clearer than what I wrote
soft drink = an extremely large category containing sodas and colas... and many others such as iced tea cola = coke, pepsi... and ... all the other past competitors who are still alive but have been near obliterated by Coca Cola a long time ago (Royal Crown being the best TASTING cola since 1905 in my humble opinion ... ) cola has the particularity of always containing caffeine, a dark caramel colorant and a somewhat distinctive taste that's pretty hard to describe soda = most of the other soft drinks... in fact... a very old sales slogan for 7up used to be "The Non Cola" back when it was kind of unique maybe 60-70 years ago or somethin... Pop ... never heard of that (it must have originated from some part of the north american continent and never left it) except in Archie's comic books which I used to read around the age of 10 when there was clearly nothing else around to read Kujata.Daus said: Oh man, flashback there... I think he has it right, though it's been a long time since I've seen that movie. |
