Its too rare to generalize it to be true.
Love as we know it does exist, but not as often as to say it happens all the time. Most relationships never go further than sex. Most relationships end either with cheating or just not being in "love" with the other anymore (aka they had all the sex they wanted out of that person, and want to go have sex with another person).
You are assuming that love is the same as like, but its not true. The difference between love and like is actually, willing to have sex with the person you like. You like your parents, they like you back. You like your friends, they like you back. There is no love involved. Love is just a step further.
You clearly do not understand what love means. Let me help you understand.
a strong positive emotion of regard and affection; "his love for his work"; "children need a lot of love"
any object of warm affection or devotion; "the theater was her first love"; "he has a passion for *** fighting";
have a great affection or liking for; "I love French food"; "She loves her boss and works hard for him"
I had called you a rationalist but you're just coming up with excuses to think the way you do now, it's pitiful, and hardly rational at all. I said that rationalist were some of the most intelligent people we have, you are only proving yourself an exception by remaining a close-minded fool. People like you bring absolutely no hope with them into the lives of others. You try to criticize and demean the value of things that are important to others without accepting that their values may have merit.
People can enjoy a life without a significant other, but I doubt very few people could live without love, it's a part of human life that makes us who we are. You said my parents LIKED me and not loved me, well surprise surprise smartass, you're wrong.
Love is all around us, and it does work. You clearly never experienced a lot of it and think everyone else must get the same thing. Well we don't, and maybe if you weren't such an arrogant, close-minded, self-serving ***, you might get some as well.
