I saw someone was posting the same thing but i really have to seek some opinions lol.
I want to get a new laptop max 1200bucks that will be fair enough for gaming (not the main purpose) movies and internet use .
Im seriously thinking about the Sony VAIO AW series im really interested in that laptop i like the big screen the design is really nice and the insides aint bad either.
Alot of people say VAIO is overrated and i just want to see what you guys have to say if you have any other suggestions about a nice ~1200 bucks laptop please post some links =)

I'd post a link to show you the one I have, but go figure, none of the sites I shop at have the laptop anymore. HP DV7, 4GB RAM, 17.1" monitor, full size keyboard, 500GB HD, Windows Vista Home Premium, 2GB Shared Video RAM, runs FF sweet as hell. Would highly recommend to any laptop you purchase, make sure you run Anti-Virus, or do not download stupid ***. That laptop cost me $950, plus tax and a 3 year warranty, was about $1050 roughly, bit pricy. At this current point in time, it's packed in a box, to be shipped back to HP for repairs. Be careful with what you do, all I can recommend.

If gaming isn't your main purpose or you're just looking to do fairly basic stuff like XI and somewhat modern PC games then you should be able to find something perfectly functional in the $600-800 range. For computers it's fairly straightforward with pricing as you mostly get what you pay for, with big brands with Sony adding in little extras that bump up the price, so it just depends on where your desire for savings and luxury meet.

I don't like to pick out specific computers for people since everyone wants something different and I'd just be picking out what I'd buy, so I'll just throw some links I'd use to make a decision:

http://www.consumersearch.com/computers-and-internet
http://www.notebookreview.com/
http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/
http://www.laptopmag.com/

Notebookreview also has deal listings as well, so if you notice a laptop going for 700-800$ you can infer it's likely worth a bit more and may come out with something really nice. Way too many deals available now to pay the stock sticker price for computers. D8

Yeah I love my Viao, I've had it for 3 years
with no problems at all. I have a FE I bought it
for about $1000. Go online shop around i'm sure you'll
find a good laptop. I'll co-sign a Vaio though.
The only con I have come across is that my
version can not run the 3-D app in photoshop extended due the the video card so i'm have
to get a new laptop in the near future because i'm really into
CS4. FFxi wise though its great :0

If you haven't made your purchase yet, here's a nice deal I found as well as some accessories if you need those for something else. Repost:

Leaving this same comment in the other laptop thread as well, but if you haven't made your purchase yet here are some very nice deals in your price range, along with some accessories you may want for a different system that doesn't have a webcam on sale as well.

- http://dealzon.com/deals/creative-labs-live-cam-optia-af-2mp-webcam-with-autofocus-lens
- http://dealzon.com/deals/logitech-cordless-desktop-wave-pro-keyboard-and-mouse

I'd recommend going for the Discete graphics, but otherwise it's a nice buy for the price!
