One thing we're still not fully clear on (and will not be this month unless we get dev confirmation): is your count of number of boxes opened going to roll over to future seasonal events? Like, if I open 15 FES key boxes this time (getting a rainbow box on #10), and they do this again in February... will I get a rainbow box on my 5th FES key in February?
Can anyone answer this question? I lost count of which day will be the 20th day of FES Gobbie key across the last holiday and this one.

Seems to be carrying over. We are on day 17 now.
Looks like the FES key chain is kept from the previous campaign. My mule only used 9 keys from the starlight event, but just used their first from the new year's event and got a rainbow chest (yes it was an impish box).

Today was the second go round of rainbow chests. Got a silver voucher on main, since I haven't tossed the impish box, and much to my surprise, I did not get another impish box on my mule, but instead a Sacro Gorget.

It was Day 20 today for me as well, getting - you guessed it - a Silver Voucher (after having received an Impish Box on Day 10).

I got a Naga Somen with my day 20 rainbow box after getting the Impish Box on day 10. Would have rather had the Silver Voucher.

I don't think they realized how silly it would be to give people's mules an Impish Box that can't be sent to the same account.
Even for the people who got their $1 characters to 99 for silver vouchers, I don't see a benefit to earning Master Levels on an a $1 mule (or even earning the Guiave Meat from Peach Power) ....so strange, SE.

I don't think it's that silly, just makes me think the rainbow chest was always intended to serve more as a bonus for actual main characters, and not mules. Wouldn't surprise me if they went out of their way to try to set the rainbow rewards to be more valuable to a real character who plays the game.
Impish Box on a main capable of doing endgame content isn't that bad of a freebie, everyone doing the fight gets some nice exemplar points and a shot at the body. A consistent likelihood of Impish Box on my actual main is preferable to me over the 1-in-1000 chance of something worthwhile from normally opening the Gobbiebox.
There's still some theoretical value in mules getting a better chance at high tier items than otherwise from rainbow, and those items are sendable. And of course, the individual daily FES key rewards (non-rainbow) are something. That's not valuable enough to me to bother on the mules though.
Silver vouchers on mules also don't move the needle at all for me. Even for mules that were leveled up to do AMAN trove, logging in 10 times and doing event crap for a single silver voucher is not it, especially when considering how much less effort it takes to get a voucher from the easy monthly RoE objectives (and I already generally don't bother to do that).

I guess I just didn't expect the rainbow chest/FES Key event to be something where it would actively discourage mules from doing with this unusually high Impish-Box ratio.
On the subject of silver vouchers, I can see that too and I agree. A while back, we'd have silver voucher campaigns which meant, you simply logged in for a silver voucher, and that was just too hard to pass up. (AMAN Troves is still my favorite event in FFXI since logging out to POL and playing the Triad Card game).
Still, I don't like actively being discouraged to use my $1 mules for seasonal events. Or in other words, I don't mind using my mules in a constructive way.

Yeah, and that is a little surprising to me in that I'd have thought they want to see an increase in daily login counts, as a metric to justify getting budget. But maybe they only count POL accounts for that purpose as opposed to individual characters? At any rate, stuff like good login campaigns should increase the daily logins too.
If I had my way, I'd change rainbow box from FES keys to something like the Goblin saying " Whoa, whoa whoa. You've traded me 10 FES Dial Keys! Good work, hows about you pick which one of my most special mystery boxes you wanna open?" And then you get a choice between a "High Tier Dial" with stuff that's potentially useful to any character (mule or not), and the "Extra Special Gobbiebox" that's more geared toward max level characters who actually play the game and features more R/E unsendable items. Make the reward pools something along the lines of:
High Tier Dial provides a substantially higher rate (like at least 50%) of getting an item from the pool of high tier battlefield drops, but otherwise same pool as the normal FES keys. Maybe even throw in stuff like AMAN Trove exclusive drops as a special bonus. Most likely you're still pulling a useless Mes'yohi Sword or something even if you do get a High Tier drop, but at least mules stand a more reasonable chance of getting something they could use and/or send to a main.
Extra Special Gobbiebox could be a special pool of stuff like the recent 1500 point login items (Impish Box, Murky Matter, Alabaster Matter, Old Case +1), Mars Orbs, Venus Orbs, Lungo's Treatise (the Exemplar Point item from Shami's Trove), etc. Things people might want on a main but that mostly aren't sendable to same account characters.
Either of those sounds like a better option than the current system, and I would happily accept either one as a replacement. But would really love an option, where I'd probably go for the non-sendable stuff on my main, and the sendable stuff (that has a greater chance of being junk, but MIGHT be a nice win) on mules.

One silver voucher does not move the needle. You're gonna log in TEN TIMES and do a short task just to get a single voucher? No thanks. A Mars Orb, maybe. A single voucher, hell no.
We just had the new year's event where Chacharoon gives you a Silver Voucher every day just for trading some gil that you can get back. Sometimes they do the voucher event where you get two Silver Vouchers simply for logging in each day. Monthly RoE gives you a Silver Voucher for saying hello in Unity chat, touching a homepoint, or auctioning an item (and a free Mars Orb for merely talking to Greyson). In comparison, getting that as a reward for consistently logging in and doing something daily for a week and a half feels really weak.

Well, holding onto the Impish Box isn't necessarily guaranteeing you get a silver voucher, just that you won't get another box. So, its a silver voucher at minimum, plus 9 other drops that could be something useful. Also, you are also cherry-picking the monthly RoEs. You also get a single Silver Voucher for doing 2 Beseiged- that absolutely takes longer than doing 10 runs of FES keys (again, not even including the other non-rainbow chests)
And I'm not sure how many mules you have that its such a big lift to get the FES keys, but the Christmas event literally took 30 seconds to complete. The New Years event is taking a bit longer on average depending on the Ixion location and how many trades it takes, but its still <5 minutes. For my mules, Ive been logging in, trading Chacharoon, then Survival Guide warping to Ronfaure to get the FES key. Warp ring back to Rulude to be ready for the next day. Pretty minimal effort, but I only have 2 mules. Sometimes I even do DI on them.

FWIW, even though the event is over, a char finally hit 45 days and got the rainbow chest on the 10th key. Of course it was an impish box.
