From rainbow chests on both main and same account mule : two impish boxes.
At first I wondered if it was the booby prize for rolling something you already had like the gobbie chocolates on the abjuration dial, but then I remembered that the boxes are tagged rare too.
So no, just bad luck.

It's interesting to see several reports of the common Null and Crepuscular items, but zero so far for the Null Masque or the rare Shinryu items. Small sample size, but could indicate that the rarity of the "rare" drops is also reflected in lower odds on them showing up even from gobbiebox.

No rainbow boxes for me until tomorrow, as is probably the case for most western hemisphere players. In order to hit 10 today, would require that a player got their first FES Key in the time between when the event went live (midnight PST on December 16) and the first JP midnight reset (7 hours later).

Got my most interesting drop of the past couple weeks from from the standard special dial today (have been trading the many SP keys I had built up, ability to trade multiple keys at once now is a lifesaver):

So far Cath palug Earring and Sacro Bulwark (mule got shield)

I'm also two for two on Impish Boxes on mules that have no other notable gear.

I suspect the booby prize for rolling something you already have might be a silver voucher. At least that's what I got from the rainbow chest on my main today.

Edit: went back for 2 more since recent post has more than just imp boxes... nope

now I'm 6/6 imp boxes on rainbow chest.

Interesting... maybe the silver voucher is the booby prize of booby prizes because I already had an imp box on my main.

I've opened seven rainbow boxes. Four Impish Box/Silver AMAN, three high tier drops.

6. Impish Box Gusgen chest key (huh??? This one is quite odd. Honestly I wasn't looking too close - should have been rainbow chest, but I almost wonder if I accidentally missed a day on this mule and this was the normal FES key? Will check again tomorrow to be sure. No impish box already on this character. Possibly also a re-roll for an item that character already had?) LOL yeah, came back the next day and somehow I must have missed a day on this mule - got rainbow box the following day, Impish Box.

FWIW, #1,2,7 above were opened in Windurst Walls, and #3,4,5,6 were in Upper Jueno - though I doubt the zone matters.

Based on that Crepuscular Ring and Pebble, C.Palug Hammer, and Krizz's Composer's Mitts, versus lots of Impish Boxes/Silver vouchers... maybe this means that the stuff that is categorized as "common trash" from normal FES dial is replaced with an Impish Box (or Silver Voucher if that character already has an Impish Box)? But if you get a roll for "gear", which could be a higher rate like the event notes said, it's from a pool of high tiers/HELM stuff/etc.?

Another note, from a non-rainbow FES Key yesterday I did get a Niqmaddu Ring. Not too surprising seeing as how we'd already observed Ou drops, but I think that might be the first report of non-Ou Omen boss gear from this dial.

I'm also still finding it curious that we've seen several reports of the common Crepuscular/Null items, but none of the rare Shinryu ones or Null Masque. Would be very interesting if someone reports those drops.

I traded 10 FES Gobbie Keys to the goblin, all at once. When the 10th item was about to shown, he let an "urk!" message ...and I got an Impish box (on a character that already has the Adamantite Body). I wonder what the Malignance Box will do since I have 9/9 items from Lilith as well....



Also, how many times in my FFXI career will I be given a working or Broken Lu Shang's Rod from random sources? I'm not complaining, but I guess that's cool from an ordinary FES Gobbie Key.

I'm happy/grateful for the RNG-goodness ...but not much for me to actually do or play with here, SE. :/

I have a few more sets of 10 and I will try again, I suppose. (This is what SE wants, after all). :P

Edit: Maybe the Impish Box means I have the HTBF reward already?
Edit#2: Another character got an Impish box. A third character got a silver voucher! ....haha....sheesh.
