I'm guessing that is new from when they made it where you could switch in between inventories when you're storing things. Didn't know you could do that.

you can also swap between safe, storage, etc.. if you're in mog house

and you can swap the right side, if you wanted to move stuff from one bag to another without going through inventory

Nor me, there are so many things like this that I found on accident when they never told us (like ALT+ left and right to skip pages of items when you are in inventory (CTR+I))

Paging up and down has been in the game as long as I can remember. I use it a lot.

But how did you find out in the first place? They didn't tell us anywhere??

Is good too. They added it and did actually tell us about it once, but it's not like there is proper documentation of FFXI on their website.

They do drop many vague lines in the update notes. Probably they cover one thing or another during their digest.

Otherwise, you can say its the 2000s spirit, of making everything obscure so players can have fun discovery stuffs.

It's one of the things I don't like about xivcrossbar addon... I start spamming abilities when I hold left trigger when navigating inventory.

Did you guys know there's a button you can hold to move the cursor faster across the map when you are selecting regions/zones. I can't recall which though.

Being that I'm one of those nerdy dudes who reads game manuals and stuff, I dunno if I saw it in a manual or anything. I may have accidentally discovered it or saw it in update notes when/if it was added (assuming it wasn't always there).

I just looked through the manuals I can find. In my original ps2 copy manual (it's reasonably thick for a ps2 game manual), there's a similar function described for Play Online for scrolling up and down. But I couldn't find anything in the FFXI section about the alt/control keys other than macros. In the collectors edition for pc manual it also only has macro functions listed. Neither manual has any page dedicated to navigating inventories other than the original gives a brief instruction on when it says "select this" it means using direction buttons to select and press X to confirm. I can't find my Xbox version of FFXI case, so it's prolly in a box somewhere, so I can't verify it's not in that.

I've always used a controller to play and holding the controller macro buttons (I believe L2/R2) do the same thing letting you page down through lists. I could have easily discovered it by mistake, but I'm pretty sure if they added it in an update at some point they'd put it in the notes. But that prolly would suck looking thru all the update notes ever.

Have you guys checked the in game guides if there is anything. Under the macro and config entries somewhere in the menu is some "how to" stuff, though I can't remember the name on the button atm. Might be just "Help."

I found out about this one by mistake while trying to go down my inventory one page at a time (hit Alt instead of Ctrl) a while ago (and it freaked me out a little lol). I just assumed it was something they added through the years, and that people who have been playing for a while probably knew about it.

I usually agree with you on just about everything, but be real here. It was mentioned in one month's version update 3 years ago and it's not commonly discussed. I think there are probably quite a few people who weren't aware it was possible, so the thread could be extremely helpful.
