BST Duo W/ Pup Or Lowman

Hello,

My friend and I are returning after 4ish years and looking to get into farming Odyssey and Sortie as a duo / low man setup.

I plan on playing with BST and him as PUP. I have one multibox account that I can add to our setup.

Can I get some insight from the BST community on how viable a casual BST and PUP duo is in farming this content and what third job good to run with us as a multibox?


Were really just looking to have fun on our own time with the jobs were passionate about so any insight or recommendations would be grateful!

BST + PUP pet style can do well for most FFXI content. Optimal farm/clears for Odyssey and Sortie will be with 6 characters, there's no going around that. As long as you are ok with it, that's fine.

Definitely COR for 3rd job, max roll+ gear on that COR will elevate your BST and PUP more than anything else can do.

Use a good healer trust and mix up the other 2 trusts depending what you do.

Maybe think about the BST building up a WAR and do a segment farm run on that job, WAR is good for sortie in a melee team. I know this isn't the advice you were looking for, but again, it's your sub, you play whatever is fun for you and friends.

PUP can tank while BST can make skillchains for a 3rd mage to MB off everyone. Mage can be a sch so they can do damage and heal if necessary.

Set automaton to skillchain automatically off everyone w/ speedloader attachment, and observe+coordinate which skillchains you create so SCH can MB properly off you. BST can debuff with bird or use whatever correlated mob family if necessary for killer instinct and skillchain properties from "ready" moves.

Do the COR rolls work on the BST pet?

I am not too worried about optimal setups... just trying to see if I can make this work out with my PUP friend to casually work on this content and have fun.

If there are any strat's that anyone would like to share, that would be nice!

There are specific rolls that do buff pets (automatons, bst pets, avatars, assume wyvern).

Beast roll increases pet physical attack, Puppet roll increases pet magic attack and I think magic acc, Drachen roll increases pet physical accuracy, companion's roll increases pet regen and regain.

How do you want to play with the pets? Do you want them to be the focal point? Or are you content with just fighting alongside them and maximizing the actual player characters?

What capability do you have to dbox the 3rd character? Will be heavily automated? Will you have to alt-tab manually to take action on them?

If you're playing two pet jobs you're probably going to want the third character to have geomancer and corsair.

I'm content with fighting along side them and maximizing the class potential. With the 3rd dbox job, I am capable and content with it being more automated and/or manual control.

GEO will get you more objectives in sortie, COR will do better in odyssey. Better if you can have both.
I would start with segment farming and sortie if you have the gear for it. Empyrean+2 will help a lot with odyssey bosses.
Aiming to cap moogle mastery in odyssey will help trusts tank and heal without constantly dying

These are my feelings/experiences.

BST is awesome, but it was kind of done dirty with newer 6 man content.

Basically you are going to want an actual DD/COR/GEO/Etc as the foundation first.

Whereas Omen/Dyna it's awesome to have as a supplemental support/DD. After factoring Geomancy Penalties, Arthur is basically a 2nd Idris GEO Frailty/Wilt (somewhere between +2 neck and Idris Atleast).

On big bosses, taking 10% off was a pretty neat gimmick at the time.

I'm hoping that New Limbus will be open to alliances. I don't get to play it as much anymore.

For low man stuff it is fun as hell.

You are basically a hybrid war/geo/DRG. Doing Kin with a DRG friend was fun as hell.
