I wasn't speaking solely about T3s. Struggling groups would avoid a lot of problems by using a PLD to hold adds even on lower tiers, despite how much simpler the fights are. It takes the RDM babysitting via Bind/Gravity/Sleep rotation out of the equation and makes the fights more straightforward.
I've used RUN+PLD for Gigelorum as well, rather than the RDM kite strat, and it worked well. I'm certain it would work well with others as well.

I've sometimes wondered about Ngai, wouldn't having a PLD be a frontline healer combined with Rampart help prevent Tidal deaths? That seems to be the #1 cause of Ngai losses, at least the runs I've done (aside from people not removing the def down effect).
I don't think it would work as well for Ngai. WHM brings a lot to the table here. Most importantly you'd lose Dia/Slow as well as Cureskin, the latter of which can be used to great effect by a skilled WHM. Auspice is also a pretty big deal, and losing Haste would probably require a haste bubble. That said, I know a lot of people like to use a WAR instead of PUP and that means the adds are usually just running loose, I could see maybe trying dual tank for that version.

I figured you’d swap RDM instead of the WHM, so you’d still have Dia and Haste. The RDM and GEO could dd alongside the MNK, but I’m not sure if damage would be an issue. We ran a strat during v20 that had just the MNK and GEO dding and it went fine but obviously the regen is more of an issue at 25. You’d have higher TP feed but more damage mitigation so maybe it balances out?

Good points about auspice and cureskin, though.

I think Ngai is the hardest boss to timeout. You either kill him with alot of time left or he kills you. That's why WHM is so useful.

Wouldn't a fire based mob heavily resist an ice based weapon.

This is what I'm planning for now. Was thinking about dropping paralyzing triad and magic fruit for anvil lightning for a bit more accuracy, or maybe to add another tier of lizard killer.
Code
<kalunga>
                <slot01>delta thrust</slot01>
                <slot02>barbed crescent</slot02>
                <slot03>empty thrash</slot03>
                <slot04>heavy strike</slot04>
                <slot05>thrashing assault</slot05>
                <slot06>sudden lunge</slot06>
                <slot07>paralyzing triad</slot07>
                <slot08>fantod</slot08>
                <slot09>diffusion ray</slot09>
                <slot10>nat. meditation</slot10>
                <slot11>white wind</slot11>
                <slot12>erratic flutter</slot12>
                <slot13>magic fruit</slot13>
                <slot14>tenebral crush</slot14>
                <slot15>sickle slash</slot15>
                <slot16>sinker drill</slot16>
                <slot17>tail slap</slot17>
                <slot18>foot kick</slot18>
		<slot19>claw cyclone</slot19>
</kalunga>
