Sold infinite Alexandrite for years. One time Ladyofhonour questioned how I was selling infinite alexandrite under market rate, then called me out for botting salvage all night. I told her that her tells must have been lost in the chat log and she continued to buy the cheap alexandrite. Now she has mythic weapons made by dirty alexandrite despite acting like they had a moral highground ahahaha

How?
I feel like this is entrapment.

Genuinely not. Pm me, I’m actually really curious

If I remember you could pos warp back "down" a floor and keep taking the boss portal up to respawn it until time ran out. Salvage is 100min long so that's a lot of linens even if you didn't do it all day. Patched out, of course.

That’s wild. How long ago was that patched out?

Back in my first year of playing, I was a RDM(first job) thinking that the elemental + icons meant more damage for the corresponding element, I had my gear loaded with elemental resistance of all kinds for nuking. This was probably 20sish-60s before I figured it out.

I once pulled on Thief for my linkshell in Dynamis Buburimu. I saw one Dhalmel in front of me, so I figured it would spawn 3 more and we'd be fine. I typed "4 dhalmel" in the party chat. Next thing I know...

I aggrod Guivre getting to camp. I'll be damned if I was going to die, home point back, and make the trip all over again.

I was just a noob DRG/THF so parties were a dime a dozen.

I popped flee and made a bee line for the zone. I serpentined that ***and abused pathing to create some space. Once I gained distance I popped a prism powder. The 5 parties on the way out never saw me run by. They just saw a pissed off wyvern + a bunch of adds.

I zoned and it proceeded to kill everyone...

Part of me misses the chaos of the Jungles, Tunnels, Garliage and Crawlers Nest lmao.

RDM was my first job and I was RDM/WAR voking and spamming spells every fight, or RDM/THF for 'better drops'. Somehow made it to 35~ before swapping to NIN and actually tanking lol

I've always eyeballed everything. I've never bothered with spreadsheets or precise calculations. Even in the Abyssea era when all of my buddies looked up to me for information and what to use in fine tuning to WS sets.

I'd just read the forum gearsets and eyeball really hard about what was good stopgap and what not.

My ex liked to consult a spreadsheet she'd gotten from somewhere, and she would occasionally chime in with stuff like, "But that piece won't be most effective beyond monsters that are decent challenge."

And one time in our Neo Nyzul static our DRG claimed to have out damaged my WAR on the floor 100 boss with the Magian OAX spear that was optimal for DRG at the time, and I laughed in his face (Ukon 90 WAR at the time with best gear available in game).

Sometimes I wonder, though.

I loved RDM as a noob, got yelled at for dding and swapped.Never touching it again. The meta broke my heart lmao.

Go figure maybe a year ago I decked it out and fell in love with it again as a DPS.

There was a veteran mithra that was holding my hand helping me with everything in game at pre-75 time. There was no discord at the time. After so many times spent together I hit on her. They replied with, "I'm a dude".

Joking aside, this is the real origin of my name. I played a female Elvaan for many years as my first character, ***got weird several times and not just with the dudes. I wanted to roll a mithra, but make it clear that I was, in fact, a dude.

This is a honeypot thread, right?

Here's my confession: Several years ago, I stopped playing FFXI for about a year to play FFXIV instead.

When I first got to Kazham I spent the last of my gil to get the airship there and I set my homepoint when I got there, I wasn't able to leave because I had no gil and I didn't really have friends yet to ask to lend me some so after a few hours of despairing I started searching online (I think I even used altavista at the time) for how to buy gil, then I bought the smallest amount I could find which I believe was 10k gil at the time so that I could take the airship back to Jeuno, then proceeded to feel bad for "buying gil" for the next 10 years.

I am on a private server, you Dolt. Don't be mad because you need to cheat and pay monthly to buy luas from brogame for 9.99 if you type in star6969 so you can quad box merc V40 Neo Bumba to unlock dyna-sortie hard mode, teehee

Back in the 75 era I was camping Voluptuous Vilma for the Ring. I had spent a week out there. People either got aggro on the placeholder by trying to find there way through the jungle or killed it not knowing it was an NM. One time Rose Garden finally spawned. I was able to get to within an hour of it changing to Voluptuous Vilma. This guy came over, checked me. Sent a tell saying Not on my watch! and proceeded to attack it and warp out. Before he did I checked him to see which LS he was from. I sent him tells to ask him why he did that when I had never met him. He said he didn't want me to get the ring. He was just trolling.

I planned my revenge for weeks. Watching the LS schedule. I figured out that they did Dynamis on certain days. An hour before they did Dynamis I contacted a GM and reported their LS name for being sexual in nature. While they were in Dynamis their LS got broken by the GM. Back in the 75 era for Dynamis the leaders would use LS to communicate to the group. So communication for them was shattered. I heard that the entire LS kept wiping and they got no where. A complete waste of Dynamis and a big loss for them financially in game.

They figured out it was me and the majority of their LS would follow me to any zone I went to. If I was camping an NM they'd show up in mass and kill everything. If I was in an EXP party they'd show up and kill all the mobs. It went on for weeks. None of them cared that their leader had started this domino effect. I ended up switching servers and changing my name when I migrated back to Ragnarok.

My name is Illivutar, but people only know me as Amalle now.

The year was 2006, high school. I enjoyed playing every other day for social exposure but by no means I was a hardcore player nor understood (or cared to) the ins and outs of stats, nothing. I was borderline in the midst of quitting for good due to irl bullying for playing the game/staying home instead of going out.

As a last push for adventure before unsubbing, I decide to apply to one of the most popular 'end game' HNM LS at the time through a friend. This friend was a fellow THF that had been spamming the Thief's Knife NM in Temple of Uggo for a few months and at that time the LS was counting on him as there was only one other person with TH3+ that had sporadic event appearances.

One day he asked me to tag along to help claim against RMTs, we claim, knife dropped, we both lot, I win. He quit shortly after and I never heard from him again.

I'm fully convinced the dopamine from that day as well as the subsequent impact of feeling important by a large group of people due to having TH3 (and TH4 shortly after) was the cause of my addiction. The rest is history.

Bro if you're reading somewhere out there, just know I regret that lot.

Serious question- why not just kill Rose Garden until you got the drop? I'm not sure Vilma ever popped on Midgard at all... it was a myth to us back then.

I had killed Rose Garden about 7 or 8 times and never got the drop. I wanted to see if VV had better drop rate. I had no idea back then of the drop % from either.

And like you mentioned, VV was a myth. I wanted to see her for my own eyes.

I absolutely love that ffxidb's data has substantially more kills logged on VV than RG. That's just chef's kiss.

I used to get super mad at RMT when they would beat me to claim Ga'Lhu Nevermolt in Beadeaux (S), spawns every 2-3 hours and his Terror Shield used to sell for about 3 million gil at a time when 1 million was $20.

In hindsight, had I just become RMT at that point in my life and dropped out of school/part time job to focus on it I would probably have made enough money to retire comfortably.

I had nearly capped gil around that era, but I hated RMT with a passion. The things we do for... love...

I'm willing to bet non of those were logged in the level 75 days when it still was relevant.
