Spent two decades in IT security, now I run a school.
Educating businesses and companies proved a sysyphean task, dealing with young adults with raging hormones is comparatively a lot easier.

For subjobs, I pet cats and write addons for ffxi. I wish I would get paid to do at least one of those, but alas, I do not.

Software engineer all over the place: image analysis, home automation, IoT, device identification and fraud prevention on Android, and now video games.

SJ I'd say is a mix of programming, my dog, and random adventures

Ok more fully:
- After college (not university, I'm British) at 18 I played FFXI for 18 months while working menial temporary odd jobs in manufacturing here and there.
- Then worked for a year as a mechanical fitter doing some wiring.
- Didn't work for another 18 months because idc, played FFXI.
- Did a degree for 3 years.
- Worked as a Design Engineer for 1 year.
- Did a master's degree for 1 year.
- Worked as a Design Manager 6 months.
- Got first job as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor in USA terms) and worked at some average-poor unis for 5 years.
- Been teaching at the best uni in my field for the last 3 years.

The best parts of my life have been when I'm not working though. I only work because I have to and wish I didn't. Bring on AGI and UBI.

A long journey, but one that for about 30 years now has had music at the center of it. About 15 years of performance as a Bassoonist followed by adult-onset Epilepsy that ended those days.

Then it was about 12 years of woodwind and brass repair, which even though I still play bassoon and teach, I do truly prefer my brass days over the woodwinds :) So I'd still classify Main as "Bassoonist", ans Sub as "Repairman/Teacher".

Ocean Lifeguard (on my better days).

Started ff11 on day 1 of us launch on Garuda. This game cost me just a straight up awful ex-girlfriend. So...well done SE.

Hobbies: many as I have fairly severe OCD (see above).
Surfing, swimming, running, Music (drums, guitar, writing), writing (fiction, childrens), reading (nonfiction), raising stud athlete kids, science (published 2 papers, one in college one after).

Favorite job - thf, no contest.
Favorite craft - cooking. I've made many many MANY ffxi recipes in real life. Salt Ramen has become a staple in my house.

Kudos and thank you's to the soldiers above and below that've kept us safe!!

I lost my wife because of FFXI, but I hated her anyway

Then she became infinitely more horrendous after but I still have to deal with her for another 14 years until my youngest with her is 18, so I might as well have just put up with her *** after all

Full stack dev using java for a decade.
Mother got stroke, went back home to help.
Got new job as an general engineer, now run the old company.

For sub job, I just make low poly 3D models, animation, games, ai, and dabble with game engines. Been learning how to program in Rust too, Fyrox maybe the most interesting game engine I've worked with so far.

Started XI back in high school but I guess the work list goes something like this:
HS Student
Stocker at grocery store
College student
Was in porn for a few years
Graduated college went and got into clinical research
More College
More Clinical Research
More College
Still clinical research

Subjob would be amateur powerlifter if I had to classify my hobby as anything I guess lol

Life is a wild ride.
